new on duloxetine

Posted , 1 user is following.

I've been on this about 10 days now. Not really having much in the way of side effects. Only tiredness in the day. If I lie down I tend to fall asleep very quick which is unusual for me. Feeling very depressed still atm. Thought it was starting to work but no. Anyway I know its early days but how long did it take for other people here?

    Hi there

I started on 30mg for 2 wks and then increased to 60mg. I've been on this dosage for 7 months. When I moved upto 60mg I noticed within a week that I was feeling better and I actually felt motivated to do things. You might start to feel the same way but, remember that everyone's different.

Over the last couple of months I've lost most of my motivation and enthusiasm that Duloxetine was helping with. My psychiatrist and GP want to keep me on this drug or move me onto Venlafaxine. I'm sick and tired of moving from drug to drug and decided to stick with the Dulox.

In the last couple of weeks I've been reducing my dosage and have been having awful withdrawal symptoms. On one of the days I couldn't move and had to lie down all day and felt sick to the stomach alongside dizzyness. I went back up to my normal dosage and started to reduce again.

Good luck and let us know how you're getting along.

I'm on 60mg atm too. Seems to be helping now as I'm not feeling so low at all. The main thing I like is the lack of side effects. This is the only med I don't seem to get any on.

Sorry to hear they are loosing effect with you. Yeah I've tried 3 drugs in the last few months so I'm sick of changing too. Venlafaxine was a horrible drug for me.

Have you ever tried Mirtazapine? That was the most motivating drug for me out of all of them. Only downside is its a sedative so can make you feel sleepy. How come you are reducing Dulox. if you aren't changing?

    best wishes smile

    Hi there

I'm glad Dulox is working for you. I'm reducing my dosage because of the weight gain. I know it sounds crazy because other side effects aren't so bad.

The only thing is, since I've reduced the Dulox, my weight gain has been increasing. I haven't got a clue why this is happening, or whether it's a side effect of reducing the meds.

If I feel I can't handle my depression then I'll probably go back on the meds (Duloxetine).

    All the best.
