New pain since surgery

Hi I'm 4.5 weeks post op from an ankle break ( plate and seven screws) plus a dislocations. I've started experiencing a new shooting pain like cramp in my calf to my foot, has anyone had this?

I was having leg cramps also and was told  it was because I wasn’t drinking enough water...you have to drink lots of water! I also was given some muscle relaxants because I have back problems besides, and being non-weight bearing on one side for 2 months really aggravated my hip and back. I also supplement with calcium and magnesium right now....I use a supplement called SLO-MAG that I get at Walgreens.... it is time released.... and it also helps with leg cramps.

    Hello Samantha,

I avoided serious nerve symptoms in my recovery from ankle fracture/sprain.

But I've gained an education about all the different ways nerve damage shows up sooner or later in many ankle patients. Even a determined sadist couldn't dream up more ways to inflict pain on patients.

That said, I think most of the weird, wacky pains go away on there own over time, and time is truly the best healer.

Just be sure to comply with your practitioner's instructions with regard to treatment and recovery, and especially wearing a boot. Mind your Ps and Qs too with diet and any exercises you are asked to do to improve your recovery chances.

    Good luck.

omg I have just been feeling the same! I just had my ankle surgery 5 days and only 2 days ago Ive started to feel some random cramping like something moving from my calf to my thigh! I thought it might be potential blot clots, although I was given injections to do every day for blood thinning! Im not sure what it is, but I hope it isnt something serious!
