New skin came out post hemorrhoidectomy

Hello. Anyone of you experienced having another "skin" came out after hemorrhoidectomy? I'm on my almost 3rd week and feeling a bit better even during BM but noticed a new skin came out getting larger every day. It's also tender / swelling and a bit painful when being touched so I have problems wiping. My surgeon told me something about "bridge" I forgot and told me it's just a skin and will get smaller eventually. Thank you, everyone. And hugs as I know this is a hella painful procedure. ?

hi, i realize you posted this 3 months ago and i wanted to know how your recovery has progressed. my recovery sounds very similar. I am currently 4 weeks post op and I am still having a lot of pain and discomfort. Just when i think things are going better, i bleed and go 2 steps backwards in my recovery. I'm still unable to sit:(. i wanted to see what your progression has been like since our situations sound similar. This week has been extremely frustrating since its almost been 1 month with no end to this near. I had 4 of these buggers removed 11, 1, 3 and 7 oclock areas

Hi. I hope you are better now. I had my operation January 2017. I'm all good now. The skin tag eventually shrunk after more than a month if I remember it correctly. I had to put aloe gel and it really helped. 😃

I had my surgery 2.5 weeks ago. 3 days back, the screaming pain during bm was reduced, and i felt relived, then the pain remained due to the swollen skin tag. I had a slight infection which the dr in emergency figured, when i went in to get my lump(skin tag) checked. They have put me on antibiotics now. The pain during bm is now back, cause of the swollen skin tag, my doctor's appointment is on Aug 26. The pain is still pretty bad, what should i do so that the skin tag swolling goes away quick.

Hey guys,
I've been following this thread for a while as I underwent a haemorrhoidectomy 3 years ago and was left with a skin tag.
The skin tag itself wasn't huge and looked like a part of my perineum, which was fine in essence.
However, after every bowl movement or when i was constipated it would blow up like a balloon and I would have to wipe over and over again until I thought it was clean but it wasn't,it constantly felt dirty.
I had to wait until it shrunk back to its original size by using pile cream to shrink it even thought it wasn't a pile, to clean that area thoroughly. Not only that but wearing thongs and jeans was unbearable (I am a young woman with no children).
I spoke to my doctor 6 weeks post op and mentioned the tag, which she had a look at and said it's causing no harm so just leave it as is and that there's a possibility it might look worse if I go for surgery again to get the tag removed and also that there's a good chance it will shrink in time on it's own.
At the time I didn't worry about it too much because my haemorrhoids were gone and life was so much easier. So I left the tag where it was.
Fast forward 3 years and the tag was still there! It didn't change in size, it didn't get bigger or smaller but still caused discomfort and became a nuisance after each bowel movement.
I then consulted my GP who also said the skin tag is nothing to worry about and that the downtime and pain would be worse getting it removed surgically.
I agreed and went on my way.
As days, weeks, months went on I started getting even more frustrated with the tag.
So I started doing research online. I came across a brand called 'AutoTag Skin Tag Remover'.. the reviews looked promising.
Although I was very hesitant about it because of how sensitive the area was, I decided to give it a try, there was nothing I could lose, if I ended up in A&E, they'd remove the tag then and there lol.
The Auto Tag Band Remover is about 20 pounds and you can buy it on ebay or amazon.
I bought 2 packets, the medium-large kit and the small-medium kit as I wasn't sure which band would work the best.
The kit works by inserting your skin tag into the tube that's given in the box and then you press it like a pen to release the band when the tube is at the very bottom of the skin tag.
It works by cutting off the blood circulation to the skin tag which eventually causes the skin tag to fall off.
I can't lie, it stung a bit the first few days and then after that, I couldn't feel anything. I wore a plaster over the skin tag so it wouldn't hurt when walking around and took the plaster off at night to let it naturally dry out.
I didn't manage to get to the base of the tag but I got 75% of it. After 3/4 days, I noticed the tag had turned black and it was hanging on by a thread so i steralised a pair of scissors and cut the tag off.
There was no blood as the circulation to the tag was cut off.
I used Germolene which I bought on eBay for 6 pounds, to use as an antiseptic to stop the chance of infection and use it as a local numbing cream while the band was on and took anti inflammatories.
I was so afraid of taking the tag off myself but it worked!! There's still 25% of it left but it no longer gets in the way of underwear or makes bowel
movements a nuisance!!
I'm so glad I used the tag remover and wish I had done it sooner because my god I've never felt better!
BTW I'm not a doctor, I'm just sharing my experience with you guys to let you know there are alternatives to going to the doctor and having a long down time! After the Fourth day, I couldn't feel any pain, the area is just swollen a bit which I assume will go down but it still looks and feels better than before!! I will keep using Germolene until the swelling goes down.
Overall, I think it's worth looking into but PLEASE make sure it doesn't get infected.. although they might just snip it off in A&E if it does lol, who knows?!
I hope this helps you guys 😃

Hi everyone. This forum is really helpful and I wouldn't have known it if not for what I am going through right now. It's only 7 days after the ops and I noticed a skin tag only a day after the operation. The doctor said it's a skin tag and it will shrink after dome time. I didn't know the pain and discomfort awaiting me after the procedure and I wouldn't have been prepared enough for it even if I knew. I was operated on Wednesday 27, January and going to the toilet has never been a big deal until after haemorrhoidectomy. One external and two internal haemorrhoids were removed and as if the pain from this was not enough, my body didn't react well with the anaesthetic that was used on my spine. I had persistent headache for 4 continuous days, painful headache beyond explanation, that made me walk while raising my head, no facing down. The only way I suppress the headache is by drinking black strong coffee to ease the effect of the anaesthetic. Again, the surgical fluid used didn't go well with my skin in the ass. I've burns and blisters all over the area. I'm still in the hospital yet to be discharged tomorrow. Now I have three problems to deal with; the burns, skin tag and the stress of going to the toilet. This skin tag is painful during defecation and after. Please tell me it will go away, some good news please

I am sorry that you are going through this right now. But many here understand your pain. Skin tag and pain because of hemmorhoidectomy shall pass soon. You definitely will be fine soon. 😃 What really helped me is eating papaya which makes stool soft, and applying aloe vera products on the skin tag.
For your other discomforts (headache and burn), make sure to regularly ask your doctor about it.
I hope you feel better soon. 😃

Hello Poola
I hope you are feeling better! I am wondering how it went for you now some time has passed. I had an external hemorrhoid removed 15 days ago and right where the surgery incision was made is swollen skin tag. it is very annoying, I cant do much during the day without making it inflamed, worried that when it does get inflamed its damaging the incision, and I'm worried I went through this surgery for nothing. I know if this tag is left there it will give me the same discomfort and issues as the hemorrhoid that was removed. Hoping to hear some success stories! They really dont prepare you for what to expect after surgery, so I'm kinda of shocked!
thank you so much!

Thank you! I am feeling very well. My operation was last 2017 so it's been a couple of years already. But as far as I can remember, my skin tag took at least 1 month to heal. 😦
I as well couldn't do anything but to lie in bed and use aloe vera gels every now and then to lessen tag's inflamation. But now it's like really small. Still there but really tiny.
I understand you very well and your operation was just 15 days ago and I must say it's pretty normal what you're feeling. Hang in there, it'll get better. 😃

that's good to hear! still crappy going thru it! I am going to get some aloe gel today. Funny how that little area can affect your everyday life so much. my little area is always on my mind. Mainly frustrated, as this is worse than what I had before the surgery.
thank you for your feedback!

hi
i am now 6 months post op and still having trouble.
i am left with 2 bits of skin i believe are skin tags.. plus an extra bit of skin that was never there before surgery. i was seen 8 weeks post op and the surgeon said there was so much to cut away, that i have been stitched alot causing the problems.
these tags swell if the bowel movement is not exactly how its meant to be, then becoming sore.
like others on here i worry about more hemorroids..
my surgery caused a fissure. if anyone has any words of comfort especially that this is normal, ill be very grateful.

I'm sorry that you still feel discomfort due to tags. I remember when I first asked my doctor about it he told me that it's normal but given me an option to remove it via another operation - which I rejected because I don't want to go through that again ever!
I hope your doctor gives you medicine to soften your stool. Try to look for Papaya fruit it really does wonder in softening stools so it will help you.
Did he also say about how long your tags will last?

thank you.
well on my 8 week check up i also had a anal fissure.. he said there was so much to cut away that its the outcome of that.
also offered me another op of botox injections... but only a 50% chance of it working. im still awaiting a letter to offer the op or another clinic follow up...
im just so disappointed that im still in discomfort this long on.
