New study shows sertraline may not help anxiety?

Hello,
I’ve been taking sertraline for 5 months and seen an improvement in my overall mood, my main problem was anxiety and social anxiety.
I find sertraline has boosted my mood moreso than helped specifically with anxiety but I am having a bad week and have also just found out new research that shows ppl with social anxiety actually have TOO much serotonin in their brains so ssris could be making it worse by producing more...just wondered if anyone else has heard of this? I’m sick of having a good week then an awful one

My gp hasn’t told me about other possible medications, is the one you are now on soley for anxiety?
The sertraline has helped me, as I am at lease able to function now but the anxiety is not completely gone. I had diarea and nausea for the first 2-3 months too but that has subsided too...wish we didn’t have to take medication at all!

Hey, the one she is changing me to is an SNRI rather than an SSRI. It's awful wouldn't wish any type of anxiety on my worst enemy and people just don't get it!!! I hope your good weeks continue and the bad weeks vanish x

Hi!
I suffer from really bad health anxiety and panic attacks and I couldn't function before sertraline but now I am panic attack free for a year thanks to this medication! Just takes time to work but then again everyone responds differently to different medication :-) x
