New Success with Two Products (One is wet ones!)

Hi guys. I had a dual problem. Meibomian Gland Dysfunction AND blepharitis

I am beating both using the following:

Cetaphil face wash! I started out with the soap bars and was experiencing success-- then I decided to try the face wash and WOW. The MGD is even harder to get rid of than Blepharisits but BOTH are working. I also wipe with an original RED cap Wet Ones once a day as well but I truly think this cetaphil may work wonders. On days I feel some gumminess around the eyes, I sqeeze a couple of pumps of hand wash into my palm and add several drops of tea tree oil. Tea tree oil is always good and if I'm feeling any kind of bacteria on me I use tea tree oil in shampoo too.

I tell you what I think I had to do to get rid of these though was stop working out for awhile. I was walking like 40 minutes in the morning and 30 in the afternoons to a sweat and I couldn't seem to fight either one of these conditions with sweat on the face. Anybody else have this experience.

Seems unhealthy, but I figure, one thing at a time. I need my eyes better in shape than my body right now. I AM a writer!

    Hi Ronda,

Thanks for sharing. I am glad for you that you have found something that works but it seems unlikely that Cetaphil would do anything if not combined with the use of the Wet Ones or Tea tree Oil. Unless of course Cetaphil Face Wash contains different ingredients from the regular Cetaphil.

I have the same conditions that you have and I finally gained control over it with Tea tree Oil and wipes containing Benzethonium Chloride. One or the other works well for me, therefore I use whichever one is the handiest at the time.

I wish you continued success smile

I wish us all... long term success with the control of this miserable condition.

What do u do with the tea tree oil? My ophthalmologist said coukd clog eye glands. I have blepharitis and MGD. Also my 3 children have blepharitis so we clearly have some kind of staph bacteria that is contagious. Can't decide what to do with my kids. Cetaphil seems good for them but not sure would work like mentioned in previous post?

The tea tree oil is a mixture that you use to wipe the eyelids clean. In 1\4 cup of pre-boiled water, add 10 drops of pure TeaTree oil and one drop of facial cleanser. Apply with a cotton flat and use as often as required; it won't dry out the skin around your eyes. I use it 4 times a day and I no longer need to do the compresses.

I really feel bad that your children have it also. Good luck to all of you.

    Rhonda,

I didn't understand the working out/sweat part. Does it help or hurt blepharitis and MGD? I have both. My 3 kids have blepharitis. Deciding what to do. The cetaphil face wash might be good for them. Wonder why it works? Ingredients look mild. I've been using wet ones which r helpful, but hesitant to use on my kids. Area around my eyes r so dry from warm compresses and wet ones. I also had demodex mites but better. Did u have demodex?
