Hi All,

I have suffered 3 SVT attacks in the past 5 or 6 months. The first one I had no idea what was happening and I just thought I was panicking. It suddenly stopped then started again a couple of hours later. I just went to bed (stupid I know) and by the time I woke up in the morning it was gone. The second only lasted around 10 minutes then went away.

The third I visited my walk in centre whilst it was happening and the GP tried to send me home but I talked him into writing me a letter to take to A&E with my ECG. My heart was at 200bpm for almost 3 hours, they did a few ECGs and they confirmed I was in SVT. They stopped it at A&E with that medicine (no idea what its called) which was awful but I then went home an hour or so later and have been referred to a cardiologist as an outpatient and been prescribed beta blockers for any further attacks.

Anyway, in between my episodes, including now I am having palpitations/skipped beats all throughout the day. They are more annoying than anything else - is this linked to SVT? They aren't a constant fast heart rate, they are just random palpitations.

Thanks for your help!

Ectopic beats trigger SVT. This doesn't mean that everyone with ectopics has SVT but without Ectopics you would not go into SVT, that is my understanding.

I have had 17 episodes in four weeks but no episodes in the following month. I went on the FODMAP diet, lost 10% of my body weight, increased my protein, decreased fruit, eliminated grains and took it a little easy. Not sure what helped but I'm crossing my fingers. That said I'm still planning on seeing an EP should they come back. SVTs are not a lot of fun but I don't have to tell you that.

      Thank you for your reply.

So my palpitations aren't SVT? I'm not sure if it's anxiety or linked. Hmm...
