Hi . Phew I am 1 year post PE. Was feeling really good until last week... Looking for some reassurances. I have pain/dull ache in my left breast going through to my back just under my shoulder blade. There all the time. My heart is racing but I think that might be because I am getting anxious. Not done anything to be muscle related . Any advice would be great.😊

Hi Lizzie, interested to hear what tests you had to indicate PE had dissolved? I am coming up to 6 months (start Nov) on Xarelto and then specialist going to another VQ scan (big radiation but I need to know) to see if clots have gone. 2 saddle clots in left lung. He said the VQ is only one that will really tell him if there or not.
?Oddly I don't get much pain at all, although on exertion at times - stairs, up hill walking to work - my legs & back ache as though walked up a mountain. And frequently no energy at all & very unmotivated, which wasn't like that before.
?My sense is no-one knows all that much about what clots do/supposed to do and there's a lot of hope attached to it. He also said that right sided heart issues cause clots. It's all scary and vague, and why I have agreed to the massive radiation of VQ again soon. I just want to know!
?I read all these constantly, makes me feel not so alone with this.
Does your doctor have any explanation for this shoulder pain? Maybe talking to an "expert" might help you - although as they don't know and can't see in there........ I feel for you, it's horrible not knowing.
Best wishes

Hi Elizabeth.😊 I feel for you too. Yes it is very scary. I have not had any follow up since September 2016.!!!Was asked to go for blood test last week. That's it . Still on Apixaban. What is VQ scan. I originally had the scan with dye which showed up multiple bilateral clots and ventricular strain. Anxiety worst symptom to deal with. 😌💐

He said the contrast CT is used for acute initially but the VQ is best for follow ups.
Hope you have managed some relief now. Look up everything you can on the net but be discerning. Definitely be discerning what you take on board.
Best wishes
