hi guys, im joey, 23, for the last year ive suffered with GAD, thats turned into serious health anxiety, the last few monthshave been the worst, with lots of chronic weakness holding cups whilst drinking, and very bad pains in chest. i went to the doctors and she was amazing and pretty much cured my symptoms with her words, and gave me medicine to try for a couple of months, i felt okay for about 3 weeks after, but the last week or so the weakness has come back, and the aches everywhere, but what im seriously worried about right now which i would like advice on is my heart rate and sweat and hot flashes, the last week or so throughout the day i get hot flashes and each time is only last no longer than 2 seconds, then certain parts of my body will feel sweaty, it usually starts at the same time of day each time, but its getting worse the last few days and happening more and more each day and lasting longer, im very scared this could be cancer because i know cancer lowers your sex hormones or something, whcih causes hot flashes. im so so scared and i really dont want to get to the point i was at a month ago where i nearly threw myself off a bridge from the stress. it was a very dark ti,e. the sweats/hot flashes, and sometimes chills are usually my arms and back, tbh sometimes i cant tell if they are chills or hot flashes, sorruy if any spelling is bad im typing so fast

i’m really sorry you are going through this and that you’re so scared .

i can tell you that health anxiety or anxiety in general can definitely cause hot flashes and rapid heart rate. i’ve been dealing with anxiety for a long time and I’ve had every sensation you could possibly think of. When you get hot flashes, what happens is with anxiety, adrenaline is released and it causes the faster heart rate as well as hot flashes.when you talk about hot flashes being a symptom of cancer, that is definitely overthinking things.

Remember that with anxiety we tend to overthink and think negative thoughts. Those thoughts are not based on fact or reality.

so many people with anxiety get those hot flashes all the time. The rapid heart rate is not harmful when it’s due to anxiety. And you can do things to get rid of it.

SO many people with anxiety get hot flashes and rapid heart rate. Especially when they start to panic. If you learn proper breathing for anxiety and panic, that heart rate will calm down for sure! You can go to YouTube and there are breathing meditations for panic and they talk you down while it’s going on.

one The thing that I have learned is that the more you worry about this, the more you will have those symptoms.

Sweating, rapid heart rate, chills, hot flashes ...... very very common with anxiety , panic and health anxiety. Not harmful at all.

So the best thing you can do is to relax your mind as much as possible so that the symptoms subside. If you’re having a hard time with it, you can speak with a counselor who can help you with that. They see this type of a thing every single day .

You can even do it virtually from home.

ITS not so much your sensations and symptoms that are the issue, it’s the underlying anxiety that’s causing the symptoms that needs to be addressed. Think about what in your life is causing anxiety.

you’re gonna be OK just take one day at a time.

It’s important for you to have an awareness that this is all about anxiety and that the symptoms are not harmful.

when I was in my 20s I had several scary symptoms come on all at once, including the rapid heart rate and hot flashes, and I was terrified. But nothing at all was physically wrong with me. It was all due to underlying anxiety and stress. I’m a lot older now and I’m perfectly healthy.

So don’t ever give up because one day you’re gonna look back and be glad that you stuck it out. we all go through rough spots in life but when you stick it out you become a stronger person! Feel better soon take care

Hi Joey, I am a fellow sufferer of GAD/Health Anxiety for about 20 years or so. I have every sympathy with what you are going through, everything seems so real and you just cant calm your racing mind. Obviously im not medically qualified to be confirming or ruling out your fears, but after going through many similar situations over the years I would say with some strong confidence that what you are experiencing is very much symptoms of anxiety and brought on by the surges of adrenaline that shoot through our system. It is very common to experience moments of hot and cold sweats often resulting in shivering and feeling slightly cold, this is all very much part of the anxiety experience. Im not sure if we are able to post links to useful sites on here but I use the following site which is used by some health care professionals dealing with mental health.

www.get.gg It looks a bit of an odd web address but it is legitimate.

I hope you find some comfort from this site and find a way of learning to cope and understand anxiety, but most of all be kind to yourself. Take care

you can absolutely get anxiety symptoms such as hot flashes, rapid heartbeat even when you don’t feel anxious! That has happened to me in many other people many times. The reason is that even if you don’t feel anxious, there is still an underlying anxiety that you may not be feeling at that time. Anxiety is very sneaky and it can occur at any time. But if you don’t give it the attention, and don’t follow it you’ll feel a lot better. Just tell yourself that you know what this is and it’s not harmful and then just go about doing what you’re doing. Do the long slow deep breathing. It does help to take five or 10 minutes to do these type of things. I think I mentioned this before, but there are so many great videos on YouTube about controlling anxiety and its accompanying symptoms. you are Okits just an annoying thing but we can learn to feel much better. private message me anytime!
