NEW TO Amiodarone

I was recently diagnosed with A-Fib and was initially put on Solitol.  The drug made me feel like a zombie and my cardiologist

replaced the Solitol with Amiodorone.  The first night I took the drug I had terrible acid reflux and vomiting.  My pulse rate actually

climbed from 60s to 117 overnight.  I could feel my heart flutter,

I'm now on the drug for 10 days and I've lost my appetite and feel

slightly nauseous with an upset stomach much of the day. I feel about 50% of my normal energy and I also feel bit down from the pill.  I've been told that the drug takes a while to get into your system before it begins to regulate my A-fib.  Currently,

my HR is between 90-110. Not sure what's normal with this drug.

I also find it hard to distinguish A-fib episodes from acid reflux so

it's hard to tell how often I'm experiencing A-fib on a daily basis.

I take an antacid when I'm not sure. Lastly, once the drug is in my system, will it regulate or minimize my A-fib?

I might have answered you previously but here goes.....I took Sotolol (120 MG) for 6 years for an A-Fib affliction and it worked for me without any noticeable side effects.  Then, I was taken off it by my doctor and went another 2 years without any A-Fib problems.  In January 2017, I had an A-Fib episode and was hospitalized for 4 days.  The cardiologist put me back on Sotolol 120 mg and it made me very ill with the same symptoms you experienced.  I took the dosage for a few weeks and kept getting sicker so I was cut back to 80 mg.  However, in July I had another bad episode so I was switched to Amiodarone (200 mg).  It is more effective than Sotolol in controlling A-Fib but the side effects are worse.  There are very damaging long term side effects like possible liver damage, thyroid damage and Pulmonary Fibrosis.  I was on Amiodarone for 6 months (without any A-Fib) but the side effects were intolerable so I finally agreed to have a double ablation for A-Fib and Heart Flutter.  The procedure took place three months ago....so far, so good!  I am not a doctor but I am quite sure your heart rate should not be fluctuating between 90 and 110 while you are on this drug.  My resting heart rate was around 60.  It sounds to me like you are in A-Fib all the time and this should not be happening.  I strongly advise you contact your doctor.
