New to meds

I'm on my ninth day of taking citalopram. I already know my sex drive is gone. I can't eat anything but soda crackers and drink water. Stomachs upset. Everyone says let your body adjust. Is it different for everyone? Or is there a usual time in which these side affects go away. Not freaking out yet. It would be nice to know how long?

    Rebecca,

I started on 10mg 2 months ago my side effects were tired during the day, spacey feeling and anxiety upon waking. It took me 7 weeks to notice a difference. I had trouble eating as well but it was more the anxiety not an upset stomach. I could feel myself getting better as the weeks went on some side effects subsided before others. Everyone is different with side effects but you have to give it at least 6 weeks to start feeling the full effect. I was just bumped to 20mg and going through some of the side effects again but hoping because its already in my system it wont take as long to level out this time. Hope you get to feeling better soon and good luck

Hi Rebecca, definately for me the first 2 weeks were the worst and then the tiredness, sickness, headaches, tight chest, etc went away.  From looking at different people experience this seems to be pretty standard.  Good luck you're nearly there. xx
