New to Neuropathy

I am not diabetic. I got neuropathy shortly after being in the hospital. I passed out for no aparent reason, was rushed to the hospital for a few days where they had me connected to IV. They said I had acute urine retention which I don't believe because I never had any problems in this area. When I left the hospital my feet were extremely swollen. I had a nerve test and it shows nerve damage. I was wondering if my swollen feet in the hospital could have put pressure on my nerves and damaged them. My own reasearch hasn't turned up a connection on this. Thanks!

Sorry for the delay. Still trying to get my report released from the hospital. I do know one of the IV's was potassium. I wasn't totally alert until I was home from the hospital.

James did you make a subject access request under the
Access to medical Records Act and data protection Act for all your medical records including the A and E records?

There's one thing I can tell you. The Acute Urinary Retention thing is probably true, even if you haven't had any previous problems with that before. That's often caused by an enlarged prostate, which for most men is a normal part of getting older. That happening in the recovery room, is fairly common. Ask your doctor about Tamsulosin ( Flomax). It'll help you with that.

I did try Flomax. I also take BP meds. The Flomax caused my BP to drop extremely low. I was coming close to passing out upon standing. I'm sure I have an enlarged prostate. No cancer. My doctor said there are other meds than Flomax that we can try but they take a long time to start working. He's going to watch the situation. I never had any problems before that night and I haven't had any problems since that night. The whole thing is a mystery to me.
