New to sertraline

3 weeks ago I had a panic attack out of the blue, since then I have been suffering from anxiety about the smallest of things. I've also had a few intrusive thoughts and unexplained feelings of guilt and worry. 8 days ago my doctor prescribed me with 50mg sertraline but I don't think it seems to be working. I've passed the stage of having a dodgy stomach, but I still feel really anxious most of the time. Is this normal? I'm keen for the drug to work ASAP! I'm currently having a good day - but that's only because I'm taking diazapam. The dr has only given me 3 days worth, so by Sunday I'll probably be a panicky mess again. I've also noticed that I have really sweaty palms since I started on sertraline. That doesn't worry me, but it's pretty gross! Did anyone else experience an initial increase in anxiety? How long will it take to go away?

It took 8 weeks for me to be back to me fully, but each week got easier and symptoms lessened. It was up and down tho with a mixture of good and bad days.
I have been very pleased with how I now feel. Was put on it for anxiety, stress & panic attack. Good luck :-)

Thanks for your reply. My doctor hasn't mentioned hypnotherapy, but it is something that I would like to try. I do have a meeting with lift psychology next week.
I think I am going to persist with the tablets, even though I am still feeling anxious most of the time. Yesterday was a good day, but today I woke up feeling very anxious. I think I'll just have to try and ride it out and hope I feel like me again in a few more weeks!!
