Hello everyone, I started in sertraline last Monday, initially 25mg and taking my first 50 dose today, I'm feeling sick today and have an upset stomach, has a tone else experienced these side effects? Bit wary to take 50mg today!

Yes I feel sick with the 50mg do u are not the only one. I have ibs so I couldn't say whether the upset stomach is a side effect of not but I think it is. Everyone has different side effects to the tablets so I would worry.

Hi Hollie I've been in bed all day with v&d so think it's a bug and not the tablets, haven't taken one today, will go onto 50mg if this has gone in the morning

Hi nausea is a fairly common side effect with Sertraline as are headaches and to a lesser degree upset stomach.  I suffered from all 3 and that was starting on 12.5mg (I'm a wuss with SSRIs).

The headaches and nausea settled down pretty quickly (week or two) but for me anyway the upset stomach lasted quite a while longer.  Top be honest it didn't really bother me that much as have never had a paticularly strong stomach and it wasn't that bad, just used the occasional Immodium if was going for a walk in the country or similar.

All these symptoms have now settled down and don't bother me and I do feel so much better than before I took the tablets.

I would say if you haven't taken the 50mg yet and are still unsure then stay on the 25mg for another week before upping and see how you feel.  But that is just my opinion, as I say I'm a wuss with SSRIs.

Thanks for your reply, I'm pleased to say I feel better today, it wasn't the tablets but a stomach bug. I've taken my first 50mg today and feel fine!
