Hi Wendy, I'm just over 3 weeks on 50mg sertraline, hasn't helped very much so far but appears can take time. Felt very anxious the first couple weeks but that did ease apart from that nothing too bad so far bit headachey that;s all. Previously on citalopram felt really nauseous on that and made my hair fall out so had stop after couple months. Everyone is different and doesn't mean you are going to have a bad side effect because someone else has. . Mine is caused by zopiclone withdrawal so might take longer to improve. See how you go I would think, but it does say on the leaflet can take 4-6 weeks to really start having effect.

Hi wendy, if this drug was not for you, you would be having more side effects then you are so that is one worry you can dismiss. The few you are having are all perfectly normal start up side effects, nothing to worry about there either. With regards to increasing your dose I would give it at least 4 weeks on 25 and then see how you feel, if you find you do need an increase do it low and slow, I went from 25 to 37,5 for 2 weeks then up to 50 without any real problems

    Wendy,

It can take some time to work, everyone is different. Alot of people that start taking Zoloft it takes 6-12 weeks to kick in at the SAME dose. I myself have been on 100mg for 9 weeks and its been getting better slowly. Doctors tend to want to increase to quickly therefore it does give time for the medication to settle or have a chance to do its thing. 4-6 weeks works for some but, for most it takes a good 3-4 months to really see a change. I was on Lexapro for about 4 years and came out because i thought i was good but, i took it the second time and it didnt work well i think it would have but doctor said its been 5 weeks so lets switch you. Now that i have been on Zoloft for a while i remeber it took 3-4 months for Lexapro to work the first time. You have to be patient with these meds but, i hope you are one of the lucky ones that it kicks in sooner than later. You got this just stay positive and be strong!
