New to Sertraline....Is This Normal?

Posted , 9 users are following.

I started taking a low dose of Sertraline a week ago Thursday, and have had a few side effects (dizziness, fatigue, increased anxiety) but they seem to change from day to day....has anyone else had that experience? Today it's the weird "fuzzy head" feeling (I don't even feel well enough to drive long distances), but yesterday it was very high anxiety....it's really upsetting me but I don't want to stop taking it....does it get better? Am I imagining things?

I think it is pretty normal a lot of people seem to suffer these awful side effects, mine lasted for about 5 weeks in all honesty, the sickness, dizzy, couldn't concentrate and generally really unwell. I felt close to given up taken them because of how horrible the side effects was but I stuck with it and was worth it ! Still get the odd day but overall loads better ! I know it's horribke but stick with it in time it will get better

Good luck hope you feel better soon

    Hi wearykitty

I have been on sert(50mg) for two weeks now and the same as most people, some days up some days down. I had the dizziness and Nausea but not too bad, at the moment Im going through the insomnia part and when I get up my head is also fuzzy but it gets better as the day goes by, I also have the sick feeling and not in the mood to eat in the mornings but it goes after a few hours and come the evening I can eat everything. So Just hang in there and know that things will start to get better soon, Keep in touch as we want to know how your getting on and If you need to know anything we will try to help you out. keep positive.

I'm on day 5 and feeling awful (headaches, fatigue, nausea, insomnia etc) but I'm fighting it out for at least 2 weeks as that's how long it's supposed to take before the side effects start to reduce. Friends and my doctor have both said it's not worth giving up at the start, and that it does get better! So keep going and hopefully you'll see some benefit soon!! (I'm saying this to encourage you as much as to myself because I'm on a real low today)

I have just got my prescription - not had Sertraline before. After reading the above I am almost reluctant to take them. However, I need to do something so I will. I just pray that I don't begin to feel all of the above mentioned side effects sad

Does anyone take these at night time and does it work

I'm taking them at night, because the first couple mornings I took them I ended up sleeping all day. But now because I'm getting really bad nausea and headaches I'm struggling to sleep at night. I think it all depends on your side effects really!

Yep as I find I can half sleep through the funny first bit. A sleep tab helps x
