new to sertraline/zoloft

So I'm new to sertraline/zoloft (never been on any antidepressants in my life), but life happens and here I am. I guess I had been in denial about my depression/anxiety for a while now, thinking I could manage on my own and just the horrible feeling of guilt that comes in asking for help. However after seeing a new therapist she helped shed some light on my situation and advised trying an antidepressant along with weekly therapy. I was hesitant but I think I made the right decision for myself. I'm on 50mg and tomorrow will be my 2 week mark and I go back to the doc tomorrow. No major side effects, other than feeling tired mostly, headaches come and go (I get those anyway), and feeling sad/anxious comes and goes as well. I guess a few more weeks to see more of the benefit from this drug. I really hope so. Hope it is helping you guys as well.

I hear ya.  Both my hubby and I have been dealing with depression/anxiety issues and both of us felt "weak" if we even came close to thinking about taking something for it.  But all that has changed.  Now we are both like...why did we allow ourselves to suffer for so long?  He is on 75 mg of sertraline and feels like a new person.  He said it's so nice not having racy thoughts 24/7.  I was on it, moved to Cymbalta for pain issues (not happy with it) so I am going back to sertraline.  It does take a few weeks and some tweeking to get things where you want them, but so worth it.  I would have palpitations and attacks that I swore were heart issues (had that all checked out and I was ok).   The constant worrying, racing thoughts, etc...things I allowed myself to suffer through.  The sertraline has been extremely beneficial in our case.  I hope it is for you as well.

The anxiety never fully goes away, but it does lessen and the attacks are much less severe and don't last nearly as long. At my worst I was missing work from 1 to 3 days a week because of anxiety attacks and now the attacks only affect me for a few minutes. I feel hopeful now instead of doomed. Sertraline is working for me.

Thank you for sharing guys. It's nice to see everyone support one another, in way one or another. I think that is what I needed (someone to share and understand this experience). With that said I'm happy to read that sertraline has helped you guys, I hope it continues to.  Well after my 2 week check up today doc says to continue and hopefully start seeing some changes in the next couple of weeks. I really hope so, as I feel like a zombie some days. 😏
