Hey all,

Just posting for my first time on here. Ive been reading this forum for the last week since my doctor presscribed the tablets to me. Certinaly seems to be pretty informative and everyone here seems to have had a result all beit in different scales.

Little about me..... Well.... im a 27 year old male with a fair bit to loose as i weigh about 24st at the moment. I have always had weight issues and they have such run in the family but it is about time i took this in hand. My sisters recently gone and lost about 5-6 stone by doing the whole cutting down and gym thing (6 times a week). Infact she took it to the extreme and went and did some qualifications to be a personal trainer.

Taking that to one side the transition from my day to day routine to my new routine hasnt been too bad. I invested in a MiBody set of scales which is really good as it gives you all the info you need and also lets you output this info to a memorystick to put onto the PC to get some graphs on your progress.

So now....

Well at the moment im just over a week onto the tablets and certainly ive become more consious about the food i eat. Every morning i used to have 3 slices of bread with chocolate spread on them. Not anymore..... have thrown the choc out and im on a bowl of cereal with splender on it.

Lunchtimes are nice and simple now and are weighing in at a healthy 200 cal with about 3g of fat. A muller light yoghurt (0.1g fat) 3 rice cakes (0.2g fat each) with a laughing cow extra light triangle on each (.6g each). Amazingly i feel pretty full after this and its got nothing in it!

I did a quick weigh in this morning and it looks like in the week ive lost about 8-10lb which was amazing as ive done no exersize yet.

I cant wait to start getting into the exersize but thats been put on hold as a couple of weeks ago i had started cycling the 6 miles to work and 6 miles back when i was knocked my my bike by a motorbike which wrecked the bike. Once ive sorted out my insurance claim for the bike and what not ill be back on the cycle to work so ill get the 12 miles of cardio a day ill need smile

So yeah.... these tablets are having an effect but its early days still.

Oh....yeah the side effects are fun smile

    Hi Alex.

Keep up the good work! I'm sure your sisters weight loss has helped motivate you. I know when my brother lost a lot of weight it motivated me. I lost a stone in my first month and due to be weighed again in two weeks. Clothes have started feeling a lot looser so hopefully weight still coming off.

Reading the postings on this site definately help to keep me on track.

Good luck for the coming months.

W're all here to help you.

    Regards

    Pat

    thanks all.

Ill let you know how it all goes.

Im not too sure how this would go down but im looking to half my calorie intake per day. The scales i got (MiBody one) says i burn about 2900 calories naturally per day. My sister was cutting her intake to 1000 calories a day and it seemed to work.

I think the key is finding something your happy eating that is low calorie.....like rice cakes. Onto my 2nd pack today of the kallo ones.

    Hi Alex,

Congratualations on a fantastic start and welcome to the choo choo train to shrinksville!!!! :D

The only thing I will say is remember, you are not your sister, you are you and your body will do things differently. Men, I am afraid to say, have a faster metabolism than women so you may find that you do better than your sister!!!!! :D

I wish I could be as good as you and have to say your an inspiration to us newbies Alex, good luck and we wish you all the best.

Be careful If you cut too many calories your body goes into starvation mode and stores even more fat!!!!!

Get the British Heart Foundation booklet on weight loss as it has really good advice on portion sizes and ammount of food you should eat
