New to this forum and vulva biopsy this week

I don't know if I have come to the right forum so apologies in advance if I haven't.  I am having biopsies this week and my consultant thinks I have lichen shlurosis.  I was sent to him as I had thrush symptoms for 2 years and bleeding from the cervix.  I had the colposcopy just over 2 weeks ago where they found a polyp and an area of concern (waiting the biopsy to come back for that one).  And now I am going for this next biopsy of the vulva.  The consultant said he found a blood vessel close to the skin that he wanted to look at but was sure I had LS but did stress it was rare for a woman in her 40's.  I want to know, can this biopsy be done while on a period.  I am booked in and to my horror, I have come on.  I can't change the date due to work commitments.

    Hi

No I don't think they would do anything whilst on a period , hope all goes well for you, have you ever had a problem before with smears? Can you see the bloodvessel I m sure you will be okay try not to worry Xx

    Hi Princess

First I would call the hospital or clinic  where ever you are going to have the procedure done and ask them.  If you must rebook than do so. No nonsense!

If they will do it anyway.Take a cool bath first ,as that sometimes will cease the period for a very short time.   Lichens sclerosis is difficult but over time you will learn to manage it.  We are all here to attest to that. To vent, to get info etc....

I asked the nurse at the pre assessment and she said they'll just wipe the area down. A smear 22 years ago showed inflamed cells and all was Ok until 2.5 years ago which showed a borderline result which doctor said it meant normal. But something hasn't been right for a while with bleeding. And the itching of the vulva and pain was what I thought was thrush. I feel like it's pins sticking in me. I can see something there buy looks like a grey area with like a vein through it. Definitely different to the rest. Hard to describe. It has cracked and bled there too. It's all new to me. Not too worried about it at the moment. I just need help with treating in as it's horrible. Thanks for replying ☺

Hi Happy Birthday for the weekend. I'm feeling okay.  Gp has me treating my ls daily at the moment so I am a bit more comfortable.  Still having problems with my urethra hole closing up .  I am hoping that when I see her again in about 2 weeks she will refer me back to dermotologist or someone that can help.  Taking a good couple of minutes to vacate bladder at the moment.  I just hope it doesn't get any worse.
