Hi , I have been on forum for hip replacement since I had mine in Jan .

I have had PF for about 7 years on and off and it flared up again after my THR .

I have used insoles and paid for accupuncture which has worked in the past but latest  bout of treatment haven't worked . I am so disappointed as my hip is great .

Dont know what to do next , any advice would be helpful .

    Hi Mary

I too have had PF for A long time, 5 years.  Am having a flare up at the moment.  What is THR please?

Thanks Mary should have worked that out for myself really!  My doctor has told me that PF is degenerative, which is a depressing thought.  Only thing worked for me is shock wave therapy, but that only lasted for two months approx.  trying to find someone on this site who has had Botox, but nobody replied as yet.

In past accupuncture with a Chinese dr helped . Have you had cortisone injections ?

Have had acupuncture but not for PF.  I had it for hip tendonitis.  It did help but only for a certain length of time.  Would not have cortisone injections in the foot as have heard so many bad reports of them and they apparently make grown men cry they are so painful.  They don't seem to make an awful lot of difference, so they are not for me.

Exercise your foot by rolling the arch over a can or hard bottle, it will help more if it is cold. . Wear the softest sole shoe you can find. buy shoes half size bigger and but in extra soft inner sole with a good arch support in it. Eventually it will feel better. Good luck.
