before bed after dinner so between 7 and 9, I've noticed by 5pm the next day I start to feel crappy, take my dose and then I begin to feel the side effects i.e tingles, itchy and some aches.

hi bbleacher. ok what to expect whilst taking these meds, we all expect/ hope that they will make us better as quickly as poss that they will work like shall we say a paracetamol, tablet taken pain gone but unfortunately they don't. Everyone is different, some will suffer every side effect going, some will just have a few and some will not get anything, also not everything we get will be a side effect but the anxiety causing it, although of course we will blame the meds or think we are dying of some incurable illness, it is the nature of the beast. flip the side effects and instead of fearing them embrace them and tell yourself it is just the medication doing it's magic and you are a step closer to getting well again.

With regards to time scales, which is what we all want, first 2 weeks will be the worse, next 4 weeks will be the settling in period and then after that improvement should come but if it isn't then you may need a dose change or to give it more time, these drugs cannot be rushed, they are changing chemicals in your brain which will not happen overnight, do not rush up the dose and do not increase too much at once, slow and little, to give your body and mind time to adjust, think of it as marathon not a sprint.

You will have good hours/days/weeks and then not so good, do not panic this does not always mean it is not working, the opposite in fact, it just means you need to call on your strength and patience and give it time.

Do what ever you need to do to help yourself get better, exercise, meditation, cbt, diet, whatever you are into, or just be kind to yourself and stay in bed, do not worry about work, family or friends, they will all still be there when you are better, talk to them let them know what is going on and then leave them to deal with it.

Lastly be 100 percent sure that you will get better you will beat this and you will get back to being you,
