New update - Inflammatory Arthritis plus Fibromyalgia

Hi everyone, hope this friday sees you all well (or as well as can be).

i had my appointment today with a lovely nurse, she's a Rhuematology Specialist Nurse at our GP practice, apparently the only one who practices in a GP surgery in the country, and in her words 'All GP surgeries should have or have access to these services'. She's fanatical about autoimmune disorders and actually suffers from Lupus herself. What a lovely lady she is too. Anyway, i digress....lol

I have got Inflammatory Arthritis (as nice GP thought) in my spine, neck, elbows, wrists and knees, I believe it is Ankylosing Spondylitis. But also, do have Fibromyalgia. My joints are all very swollen (some i didn't realise, pain everywhere so hadn't noticed specific points were so tender)

I'm being refered to Arthritis Clinic quickly at Hinchingbrooke, to see Rheumatologist as soon as possible.

I feel strange tonight, relief, I was almost in tears with her, as someone listened, and finally understands and accepts how much pain i've been in, and wants to help, but the other side, i'm scared, its a big deal, life changing diagnosis. I also know i've got a lot of tests, scans, more tests, more scans ahead. Anger, towards the GP the other week (see my previous post about GP Made me furious). I finally feel that someone is on my side and most of all, believes me and best of all, understands.

So Monday, will be popping in to see the nice GP, and get some more pain meds organised, whilst awaiting the onslaught of appointments ahead.

So tonight, i'm having a rather large brandy and getting my head rounds things a little. :-)

Hi ellie. That's great you have finally got someone on your side.. i felt the same when i got my diagnosis, even my own family doubted me and though it was all in my head.. Now my GP,family etc can't do enough for me.. just being believed makes a massive difference to how you cope with it, knowing you can say you are in pain without the eye rolling and here we go again looks..

so congratulations and enjoy your Brandy.

Enjoy that brandy, you earned it.

That relief and fear mix is a rather odd cocktail but I totally get it and I'm glad that you actually got a diagnosis and help. Good luck.
