New Year New Dosage.......

I have been taking 50mg before bed with a pint of water and an apple for about 8 weeks, had a few nights where I woke up feeling panicky but that subsided. Still light headed during the day occasionaly and having pains around my chest which doctor/s are saying is anxiety still and apparently 50mg is a great starting point but 100mg is where it is most beneficial (some even higher) I also have suffered weight gain but my appetite has increased and its the time of year we indulge (well I have haha) and I have it in my head that this year I am cutting chocolate, crisps, sweets, takeaway out completely.
I dont have a problem taking them and have just had 2 x 50mg (bit later than normal due to the new year) but want to know what peoples experience are with this increase?
Can I expect the same sort of feelings as i had when I started 50mg? Worse? None?
Either way I am expecting something but have 2mg diazepam to take if the side effects do come back and off course worse case I drop back down to 50mg I gues
Happy new year all sertraline buddies.

hello and happy new year. I have also been on setraline for 8 weeks and have noticed a slight improvement in mood this last week. I havent challenged myself very much though and so not sure if anxieties are still as high. I am unsure about increasing dosage as am hoping things could still improve on 50g? I will be interested to see how you feel on 100g though.

I will keep this post updated.
Day 1 - woke up 2/3 times to go for a wee but I doubt that is to do with the sertraline and more the fact I had a couple drinks last night then a pint of water with the sertraline.
I have woke up today feeling the same as the last few days (chest pains, bit foggy headed/lightheaded) got me self showered and now at parents to have a roast (but no sweety treats for me)
Oh yea to add I have also got a diary so going to be keeping track of my feelings and weight over the coming month

Hi, I've been on sertraline for 16 years I increased my dose in may from 50mg to 100mg, to say it was the worse experience I have ever gone through is a understatement, looking back now knowing what I went through I wish I hadn't done such a big jump. I personally would only do 25mg jumps and also give the dose at least 4 weeks to work. I'm not saying everyone is the same I'm just giving you my own personal experience and wouldn't wish that on anyone. Sertraline has been a life savour for me but at the time I just wanted to get better and only had my Gp to talk to because I didn't know about this forum. Look at my previous post, and good luck xx

Have you gone up from 50 to 150 within the six week period? i have started week 4 on 150 today ( 12 weeks on SERT altogether). I have never experienced such a strong anxiety on when upping on any other AD, but because I suffer with bad depression I need to carry on.... I am starting to have days with no anxiety but today I get waves. My mood is very up and down but I hope it evens out.

OK guys and girls today/last night (an hour ago) was my 7th night with 100mg I am writing this at 00:30 and have nausea and lightheadeness I am putting it down to the sertraline and will be having 1/2 diazepam 2mg to help get over this hurdle.
I have also spent most of the day in bed feeling tired and fatigued yesterday, other than that I am feeling ok still got pains come and go and the weight gain seems to be sitting where it was.

Yes I find it does help massively but doctors (well the 2 I see) hate prescribing it even at 2mg up to 3 times a day. I have noticed since the increase I have one in the morning, then ill take 2 before bed and if I wake up in the night ill havr another so up to 8mg a day.
This is still a small dose but enough supposedly to cause addicition although I have read many users be on it for years at 10/15/20/25mg daily.
I understand the benzo withdrawl can be problematic but Id monitored can be done easier than alcohol would be (they use diazepam to help alcoholics)n

HI Tom! Currently on my 34th day of Sertraline, the first three weeks were tough, week 4 was good but now I am experiencing anxiety and panick attacks again. Maybe it is time to up my dosage. I am currently taking 50mg. How are you doing?

Hi I am doing ok, since the increase (9 days ago) I have felt alot more fatigued and spent alot of time in bed, but have also being on amoxicillin for a viral infection so maybe this has contributed to this. I have finished amoxicillin today (although still got a sore throat) so will see what happens over the next couple days as I intend to get an appointment with my dr Friday for a chat
Before you increase speak to your doctor, my doctor said that 50mg is more like a stepping stone for 100mg and he finds more and more requiring 100/150/200mg to help treat them
