New Year, new hip

Posted , 6 users are following.

I've just been for my consultation and the consultant has agreed I need a THR.  I have signed the consent form and the hospital will be contacting me with an appointment for a pre-op assessment.  I hope it's not too far away.  The consultant was lovely and although he told me of the risks agreed that my quality of life will be improved with a hip replacement.  I feel excited, happy and scared all at once.  Eeeeek!  I knew this moment would come but suddendly its all "Wow, its really going to happen".  I presume all the finer points (anaesthesia, type of hip etc etc) will be discussed at the pre-op assessment.

Love to all, soon-to-be hippy cheesygrincryquestion

I only saw the consultant for the first time this morning.  He said "See you in the new year".  I think the clock starts ticking now though.  It's supposed to be within 18 weeks I think.

Third time lucky ....why isn't it posting?  Windows 10 ?

Look at the "Related Information" on the right of the screen - it tells you what to expect, andlists some of the choices you can expect to make.

Also look in  "THR Useful resources" - access by clicking the "Hip Replacement" link just above "Unfollow this discussion"

Thanks Graham, I'll have a look.  I was given quite a comprehensive information pack but when he asked if I had any questions my mind just went blank xx

I go blank when they ask that too - I wrote down my questions in a small notebook, I found that the surgeon answered most of them, so was able to put the unanswered ones to him.

      Good luck

Oh, I do Renee, thank you.  The first place I came after telling my children was here cheesygrin

After being messed around for so many months I can't believe it's going to happen.  The physio wanted me to have a guided steroid injection but the consultant didnt offer me one, for which I'm quite glad after the problems another poster had with her op being cancelled on the day.

      Onwatrd and upward xxx
