I've just been put on citalopram for depression and anxiety and struggling to be honest is it the meds or my conditions any advice would be appreciated .

It took about 3-4 weeks for me to respond to the meds. Are they making you feel worse?

Yeah, I returned to Citalopram just before Christmas and it has be a hard slog. Took a good two/three weeks to get over the initial side-effects and start to feel some benefit. I slowly increased the dose to 20mg in stages, each increase came with renewed side effects.
The insomnia and agitation were the worst for me. My GP gave me Amitriptline for the insomnia and Propranolol for the agitation. Both seem to help.
Funny enough, this is my second time on Citalopram. The side effects weren't nearly so strong the first time around. But then I wasn't feeling so depressed/anxius wheeeeen I started on them. Perhaps there is a link.
Keep at it and consider discussing additional help with your doctor.
Oh, and don't drink alcohol. Been there, done that, really didn't help at all!
