    Hi Richard

It took about 3-4 weeks for me to respond to the meds. Are they making you feel worse?

    Hi Richard,

Yeah, I returned to Citalopram just before Christmas and it has be a hard slog. Took a good two/three weeks to get over the initial side-effects and start to feel some benefit. I slowly increased the dose to 20mg in stages, each increase came with renewed side effects.

The insomnia and agitation were the worst for me. My GP gave me Amitriptline for the insomnia and Propranolol for the agitation. Both seem to help.

Funny enough, this is my second time on Citalopram. The side effects weren't nearly so strong the first time around. But then I wasn't feeling so depressed/anxius wheeeeen I started on them. Perhaps there is a link.

Keep at it and consider discussing additional help with your doctor.

Oh, and don't drink alcohol. Been there, done that, really didn't help at all!

one other thing mate i was on them years ago,i was on 30mg and in the beginning as you're not use to them well your body isn't all they done was make me drowsyy and put me to sleep so you take them at night,as your body gets use to them the drowsiness dies down and your mood starts to change,I was scared that I might never come off them or get addicted as I was advised by the doctor to take them fot a year so as your mood changes for the better, you start to program your self to think positive thoughts and get your life back on track which takes a while depending on the individual and is not an over night miracle

hi mate, how long have you been on them and what strength 15 or 30,it's beest to take them at night as they help to put you to sleep,I asked how long you've been on them cuz it takes a good few weeks before you start feeling a change in mood, what exactly are you struggling with?the meds or the other?things will work out eventually just give it time,it's always good to talk, better then bottling it up to yourself, all you do then is start thinking too much which isn't a great help,,please think positively as there is always someone else in a woser state,if only you knew what was going on in my life mate,I'm there if you need to talk and vice versa, perhaps we'll end up doing good for each other mate.

mate, early days if youre on day 5,best to take them on the night time as they make you drowsy, takes a few weeks for your body to get use to them and for you to get up in the morning feeling fresh,no need to feel guilty bout work as you've done nothing to feel guilty about, your health and recovery comes first mate,Richard mate, listen if you need a chat don't hesitate at all send me message and i'll get back to you and don't worry it takes time for the medication to start working so be patient and everthing will be ok.
