Checking in to say, "hi."

I have cirrhosis & refactory ascites. Do monthly therapeutic paracentesis and am diuretics, of course.  The ascites comes right back, hence refactory.

I've survived two bouts of SBD this year and am still kicking!

As hard as the disease is to manage, the loneliness is worse.  A lot of my friends know how dismal my prognosis is...and it's like I'm contagious or something....

Anyway, like I said, just wanted to say, "hi."  I'm a 54 y/o male living in California.

Best to all,

    Hi

Welcome. You've come to the right site. Many on here are going through similar. I am seeing GI today and hopefully a biopsy will be arranged. Had chronically elevated blood enzymes for almost 8 months, possibly longer. Had issues since 2013, gallbladder removed 2014 was told that was the end of my problems, it was the beginning. I too don't have many friends, i have severe mobility issues due to arthritis in my spine and most of my joints, recently finished work February this year due to my health issues.. i have friends i speak to on Facebook but mainly only speak on here about my liver problems as everyone is in the same boat and you just need a shoulder at times. I live in the Uk 54 in September. Pleased to have spoken to you

Well you will find a few people here in varying stages of cirrhosis etc. I don't tend to tell anyone about it, except of course my wife and family, and I cound't not tell them as I had an extended stay in hospital.

Personally I look fine, so I have no need to mention anything about me to anyone, though I suppose if you are jaundiced or something, it is hard to pretend everything is okay.

I have just tunre 51 this weekend (UK) and I'm Child-Pugh A, I don't think they use that classification mcuh anymore in America, it is now the MELD score, which I'm not so familiar with.
