Newbie here loads of questions on way

Hi just joined and whilst not actually being diagnosed with Hypertension yet am undergoing tests from tomorrow.

Just wondered what experiences/symptoms some of you may have encountered?

Lately I have noticed myself becoming extremely short tempered and reacting completely over the top to what would normally be very minor issues?

Coupled with this I get a kind of 'fluttering' feeling in my chest area that gets steadily worse the more stressed I get and can take hours to settle sometimes?

Then for the rest of the time it feels like I've got a marble or something kinda pressing in a very small area, not painful just more like you know it's there.

My blood pressure readings are all around 150/103 to 160/105 region at moment.

Six years ago I had acute renal failure and apparently this can make me a prime candidate for hypertension, so...as I said earlier just interested in comparing notes really, thanks for taking the time to read.

I'm surprised you haven't yet been diagnosed with hypertension because your diastolic numbers are very high and the systolic isn't good either. In your shoes I would be making an appointment with my GP.

I had actually just come back from an appointment with my Doctor who has arranged a series of blood tests and an ECG, plus I'm seeing my Kidney specialist next week as well.

I have annual meetings with my Kidney specialist and whilst my BP has been 'slightly high' ever since my Kidney failure back in 2007 it never worried them, now however it would seem it has gone higher.

My Doctor did say that due to my Kidney episode I am at much higher risk of Hypertension and thinks we've reached a point where it's now showing, he wants to do a few tests to confirm this, before deciding on treatment.

    Thanks for your reply.

Sounds like you are being looked after by your dr's which is the best place to be.

As for the being short tempered, I was told when I started falling out with people (which is very unlike me) that it was just me and I stopped myself. I think I was taking out the stress of the unknown on others, so in my case it was not medical!!

I have also had 'the fluttery' feeling but for me they were palpitations that did not last long where as yours sounds like stress makes them worse.

I know that they checked my kidneys to see if there were problems there that were causing my hypertension, turned out for me it was my adrenal glands and kidneys were fine.

Hope all goes well with the tests and let us know how it goes smile
