NEWBIE TO LPR IN DISTRESS

Hi All: It is 5 am and i have been clearing my throat non stop for 9 hours . This is the longest siege in the 2 weeks i have had LPR. I am taking pantoprazole 40 mg after dinner. i had one virtual meeting with my internist who prescribed the meds including asmanex which i have not yet taken.
i have changed my diet drastically and have had success for 3 days this week (Tues.-Thurs.). I am eating low acid foods but it gets so confusing when i look at various articles about this condition and the advice sometimes appears contradictory.. I take a walk after dinner as i heard that helps. i don't expect miracles. I know this takes time. But this is so very difficult.
since we are in the middle of a pandemic i have not yet had an endoscopy or visited with an ENT dr. i am worried if this will rip up my throat. Any advice/help you can give is much appreciated. Susan

I empathize with you. The constant throat clearing is my most pronounced symptom . Since this Covid situation came about I have strayed from the recommended low acid diet and am paying for it. I have been battling Lpr for about a year. Unfortunately there is not a quick remedy. As I understand it the ppi meds should be taken the 1st thing in the morning 20 minutes to an hour before eating. The morning dose is very important. unfortunately it takes with the diet and meds it can take weeks before symptoms improve. I would suggest reading the Stanford medical protocols for lpr treatment online. also drink alkaline water.

sorry to hear about your struggles.
I had LPR and this helped!
Gaviscon UK version. Order from amazon since you cant buy in America. My ENT told me they are getting away from the prescription meds for reflux. This chewable pill helped significantly.
I also take pepsid after dinner. both meds are to be taken at night according to my ent 20 minutes apart.
dont lay down 3 hours after eating. and do not drink pop!!
I pray you get better!!! prayer helps me through it all!!

thank you all for your help. i know it will take some time. it is just so frustrating. i feel like i don't want to eat at all. food was my pleasure and now i don't care or crave a thing. i have no pain or burning. i just have these long sieges of constant throat clearing. i can deal with intermittent but constant is horrific. do you think that gaviscon will help that sympton? thanks again. Susan

i know its tough and i asked the same question. your throat needs to heal. and in order to heal you need to deal with the source which is controling the acid. get the gaviscon and it over time it will heal.
you may want to ask your doc about sucralfate. i took it before to coat my throat to help it heal. but controling the acid is the source!
