Newly diagnosed

Hi all,

I'm new to this site and just wanted to seek advice.

I've just been diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis after experiencing joint pain and swelling for a few months now. Scaly Patches also appearing on skin in several places. Feeling worried as I have been told I will have to go on long term medication with regular blood tests. I'm 36 and feel like 76 at the moment! I'm shattered all the time, I have bad swelling and pain in my fingers and I am also experiencing pain in other joints. Worried if it's like this now what will it be like in a few years time??

I also have endometriosis and wondered also if this could be connected in anyway ?

Thank you for reading :-) Natalie x

      Hi

Thank you for your reply. Sorry to hear you have suffered for years:-( I just feel a little worried at the moment as this is all new to me. I did see a rheumatologist on Monday when I got my diagnosis... He is now sending me an appointment with nurses to discuss going on sulphasalazine and will review me in December.

Just feeling a little low at the mo as I already have bad pain from endometriosis :-(

    Hi Nat

From my experience if you are in the UK the consultants want to keep you out of hospital as it looks good for statistics. Therefore they put you on tablets, if one does not work then they put you on another, thats how the nhs works in this country. I am involved in numourous groups we are trying to stop RICHARD BRANSON having control of the nhs.
