Yes, it has happened to me, but very rarely. It's more lkiely to happen if I've inadvertently deviated from my Low Fodmap diet.

I was diagnosed with IBS quite a while ago. However, I'm happy you asked your question. A few months ago, I started waking up every night between 3 and 4 am to go to the toilet. It was absolutely awful. I hardly go at all and at that time but I keep on feeling the urge and something being theresignalling nothing. I'd lie in bed trembling for some reason until i had to get up at 6:30 am for my cats.I could not stop and nothing I did helped. What I'm doing now, with some success is : When I wake up, I immediately take 1/2 of xanax and two capsules of IBgard which is OTC. The IBgard is wonderful. I can feel it relaxing my intestines, etc. and now I won't go without it. Keep in mind that my IBS has none of the other traits for IBS. It's symptoms have NO Pain and and no real diarheea or bad constipation. It disrupts my life anyway as I sometimes go several times all morning. It's much better now. No doctor involved. Maybe if you ask your doctor, which I didn't bother, he might tell you to go ahead and try it.

Thanks for that though bad for you. When you google for symptoms you get lots of conflicting answeres and says night time symptoms
are rare ,I also don't suffer the bloating and wind everyone seems to get ,I'm not complaining I'm just so unsure it's IBS that I have .

Trust your doctor's diagnosis because it is more likely to be accurate. Don't google because it will increase your doubt and anxiety. I googled and it filled me with panic and doubt. My IBS diagnosis brought me certainty, relief of panic and a big improvement in symptoms. Your symptoms are very typical of IBS. However, everyone experiences IBS differently; it is a very individual condition. No one person is the same. It is very common to doubt your diagnosis, however, this will make your diarrhoea much worse.
Try to accept your diagnosis. Acceptance will help you to manage your symptoms better.
Try Imodium at night and try a food diary to see if any food is causing the diarrhoea. Imodium hrlped me during my IBS D flare up. The Low Fodmap diet may also help you.
