newly diagnosed endo patient

hi all, I've been diagnosed with endo about a month ago by my gyne after several ultra sounds and blood tests were done, Ive joined this forum to be educated and if possible contribute from my experiences to future posts however, I'd like to know has anyone ever experienced bleeding while on birth control simultaneously?
While i await to have my laparoscopy procedure done My gyne suggested to not have any period for 3 mths that i go on the pill without taking a break Ive visited her about the bleeding i experienced and she advised it was called " breakthrough" bleeding and further prescribed another pill by the name of provera.
I'm just curious and worried at the same time and would greatly appreciate any feed back.

Hi Laura,
Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, I have recently been through the laparoscopy and might be able to help out. Every time I have gone on any pill in the past, I have had break through bleeding, it is not uncommon, and for people with endometriosis, I apologise, but it's a little more common for us. The bleeding will go away, for some it takes 3months, others 6months or so. Nothing unusual. Avoiding having your period is just a reassurance to make sure the condition does not escalate too much until your surgery.
Provera is a progesterone only tablet that stops any abnormal bleeding, and it is a good tablet for endo women as estrogen has adverse reactions with many. For some it escalates the endo growth, for me I am unsure about the growth, but it just makes me go into a deep depression, and for someone who is a happy and bubbly person, it is scary. So provera should be fine for you, if not, see your doctor again, they might put you on something else, or just leave it altogether until surgery.
**Slight side note suggestion, if your doctor has talked to you about post surgery and wants to put you on a Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) afterwards, reply to me again as I have been on a really good one that is much better than the one they normally recommend called Lupron which has many side effects. And I have written a whole document about my side effects as there isn't much online.
Hope this all helps xx
