Newly diagnosed LS

hi I was diagnosed today with LS still in shock a bit iv had issues for 2 yrs bowel prolapse. menopause oestrogen deficiency etc really miserable 2 yrs! sitting down in my job and losing intimacy has not been a walk in the park! just had biopsy today and 3 stitches later feeling a pity party for one. anyone with advice on managing this situation would be grateful especially creams iv been given steroid can't use till stitches are gone (2wks) iv got 2 other emollients but due to shock of diagnosis nothings sunk in! till now! help would be great 👍

    Hi, check the chemicals they use in your city water. I found out chloramine is used where I live and my problems with anal fissures and LS started exactly when I moved here.

    Hi Alice, really sorry to hear you're having such a rough time, hopefully it will improve once you can get into a routine with the creams and emollients. Based on my own experience (10 years on from diagnosis) you need to find the best steroid cream or ointment for you (there are some different options - I find ointment a bit less messy than cream) and always use tons of emollient straight after applying your steroid. There is life after LS and things will likely settle down after the initial shock as you get used to managing it, it is a manageable thing and you aren't alone. Evie
