I was in hospital four days with a DIV attack. Just released this past Friday. I've been on the low fiber diet since Thursday morning in hospital. I was doing fine till early this morning when I woke up to the feeling I had to poo. It looked like there was a bit of blood on the toilet paper and maybe one stool. it was mostly chunks mixed with water.Right now I have no fever, and no lower left quadrant pain. I'm on Augmentin as I can't cope with Flagyl or Cipro. Those drugs are fine as long as I'm on an IV and they bypass my stomach. I have a scope scheduled in six weeks. My diagnosis was gas bubbles and inflammation which as I was told could've been a microperforated. The surgeon and GI doc all told me they thought I wouldn't need surgery--Im skeptical and slightly scared. Today (Sunday) my tummy is rumbling and achy. Is this normal? Have some of you had a bit of blood after being released from hospital? I can't imagine this getting worse after I was doing better? Any advice or sharing is appreciated. Cheers, Jacob.

The fact that you're not running a temp. is good -- from what I've been told, that means there's no infection. Insofar as the blood in stool, just call your doc's office and see what they have to say about that and the other issues you're still having. Best of luck to you. Keep getting on this blog; there's a lot of great information on here from others who are suffering from the same condition.

Hi Jacob
from my experience yes its normal, and over the next ciuple of months you will experience few strange things that will probably worry you , including some attacks of pain, change in your stool and bowel habits , dont worry all of it is normal , stay on the suggested diet always , and my advise is dont ever go for surgery unless really really needed as I did this mistake and i suffer after surgery a lot of complications, your situation can be managed easily with antibiotics and diets and you will be back normal inax a couple of months hopefully, all the best..

Can you elaborate on your situation? I'm curious because I'm bloody sick of feeling s**t. I'm a runner, and play footy(soccer) on weekends, and I'd really like to get back to that lifestyle. Did you have complications, etc. It seems every forum I visit, or every article I read seems to claim if you have one attack there will be more to come. Seems like an awful future. I was in hospital with horrible pains for four days, chills, fevers b/t 99-101. One thing that made this the absolute worst was the care I got. Worst hospital I've ever been in. Baylor in Fort Worth, TX is an absolute joke of a care facility. I'd imagine there are state hospitals run better. If you are sick the worst thing that can happen to you is awful nurses and inept doctors. Rant over.
