Newly LS confirmed man

Hi everybody.

I am a 36 year old man. Generally healthy don't smoke or eat to much sugar and runs half marathons and triathlons. Late bloomer, so sexlife got better with age until... taddaaa Lichen Sclerosus happened and it happened slowly but steady over 18 months or so without me really noticing it on my foreskin right under my penishead... #joy

So finally found out what was wrong after god know how many tests and creams and different ointment to something GP's and specialists thought was balantitis or thrush not their fault apperently it is very commonly confused with that.

So I am curious as to what kind of treatment you guys have had and if they have worked also give an insight into what my treatment is and if it is correct? I will ofc double check with my own GP on monday too to confirm.

But essentially I have been given Dermovate for use twice a day for 4 weeks sparringly. However it says on the Dermovate label that I should then CONTINUE with Epaderm emollient ointment afterwards so I am wondering if I should use Epaderm too during the first 4 weeks with Dermovate at the same time or ONLY after the 4 weeks. The pharmacist himself seemed a bit confused as to how I should use it when he handed me the smallest tube of dermovate and the biggest bucket of Epaderm known to man.

Also...

I have a re-checkup in two months or so to see if that has helped and if not I have to consider circumcision which I would be fine with initially if there is a 75% chance of a cure. But I am also curious if any guys in here have had a cicumcision and if it has effected their sexlife drastically or physically in terms of hobbies like running, cycling or any sports in general in terms of is it something that annoys you or if you get used to it in the long run?

I am so happy that I have found this forum because it will be so good to be able to talk about it openly with other men who have the same condition.

Thank you all.

    Hi!

I dont understand if I have a lichen slcerosus, because I've been to 11 docs and no one, except one, talked about lichen sclerosus, and other 9 ruled it out. Could I understand better how your situation started? I just feel dry skin on my inner foreskin and penis head, dont understand what is going on, really. I'm feeling slight better with the past of the time, but dryness seems not to heal totally. How have u been diagnosed for sure?

Please help, I'm desperate, and want to understand what I really have.

Hi,I have almost the same experience as you. I'm a little older, in my 50s. I have a mild but chronic rash and was diagnosed with Balanitis by a Dermatologist until I saw a specialist in London who was certain I have Lichen Sclerosus, although not classic symptoms. Told to use Dermovate twice a day for 1month. Im half way through this and not yet convinced it's doing anything but inflaming the whole area. I also use Epaderm but to moisturise a dry foreskin. Have a follow up appointment in London at end of Jan and will report back.
