Hi, I am so annoyed with NHS!! I was told I have vasculitis and would be referred to a rheumatologist, this was 2 weeks ago and I called the rheumatology department to ask how long is a waiting time to be seen only to be told they never received a referral!! I have been put on sick leave for almost a month now and I am just stuck at home and waiting for hospital to do this referral, What is going on with this NHS!!!! How can they just not bother referring a patient when they told me themselves I need to be seen urgently!!! Unbelievable. Not sure what I can do, I feel so helpless.

Check back with the referring department just in case it is a simple foul up.

Hi Susie, are you saying that your GP told you a fortnight ago, that he would refer you?  In the world of the NHS, that isn't very long and it could be, that your letter hasn't reached its destination yet, or, it could be, that some minion has opened it and decided how urgent he [the minion] thinks it is.

My Dermatologist referred me to the ENT people last June.  The appointments people told me that they didn't get the referral till Septmber.

My Dermatology appointment should have been February, this was ordered by the Consultant.  I was given an 'urgent' appt about 6 weeks ago, for March 31st.  That was cancelled on March 30th, the Consultant was off sick - I'm not surprised!

Speak to your GP and get him on your side.  Maybe they are juggling the books because it is the end of the Financial Year and it looks better for them and, never mind the patients.

Hi, no my GP thought I had artheritis. He completely didn't care at all and didn't bother to check what's wrong with me. I ended up going to A&E and the hospital did loads of blood tests and said it came back positive for vasculitis and that they would refer me to rheumatologist the same day (apparently they were already trying to contact them by phone while I was there), however 2 weeks later and they didn't bother to refer me. I have to wait till next week now for some reason and still don't know if they will actually refer me. I have been told by the doctor at the hospital not to walk and not to go to work, so I am stuck at home for 3 weeks while they did absolutely nothing. I am not sure what I can do. I contacted Patients advice and contact team to complain and they contacted hospital themselves and said they were being fobbed off and I have to wait till next week. I am not happy that my feet are not getting any better, however my GP won't do anything because I should wait to see the rheumatologist (although I wasn't even referred) sad

Oh dear, I don't know what to suggest now.  I know all about the 'fobbed off' mode that they seem to get into.  I suppose the week beginning April 13th will be the first proper week after Easter but whether or not that improves things,  I don't know.
