NHS PENSION AND ESA SUPPORT GROUP PAYMENTS

Posted , 3 users are following.

My husband retired from the NHS on health grounds.  Initially he didn't receive his NHS pension and received ESA Support group payment.  He has since won his appeal and will receive his pension backdated.  Will they take off all his ESA Support group payment?  I think apart from his lump sum he will get £13,000 per year,  All advice appreciated.

    Hi,

It depends how on a lot of things. Is he on Income Related ESA or Contribution based? If it's Income Related then the lump sum will affect this if it's over a certain amount. £6000 and it will affect his money £1 for every £250 over. Anything over £16000 and it will stop completely. Weekly pensions can also affect any ESA but this is very complex. First thing he needs to do is ring DWP and report this pension.

Also depending on how much lump sum he had, if he recieves any other benefit then he'll need to report it to them also. For example, housing benefit.
