NHS physiotherapy self referral

For all fellow PA sufferers, I've just had some great news - our local physiotherapy service is now offering sessions for arthritis sufferers.  I filled in the online form, emailed it to the county hub, got a call back the following afternoon telling me I could ring for an appointment the next day - and when I rang I was offered an appointment 1/2 mile from my home on Monday!

That's great news - I got to my physio at my local Health Centre and I have acupuncture and pain management - it is sooo good - not to sure if the acupuncture really works for the Psoriasis but you sleep so well and it's 30 mins of bliss - I also booked myself in at the podiatrist and got an appointment within 1 month - so very pleased - enjoy your physio -

You are so lucky I have been waiting 4 months for physio. I'm in constant pain with limited walking. I have plantar fasciitis Achilles tendinopathy and heel bursitis. Have to wait 5 months for a consultant appointment which was supposed to be 3 months and then have to wait goodness knows how long for an appointment for a steroid injection.

I've spent a fortune on osteopath appointments. I'm really fed up and would love to be able to pick the phone up and make an appointment

Hello Lucy, I live in Wiltshire, very near to a hospital that did one of the initial trials with self referral physio back in 2008. Unfortunately it wasn't taken up by the PCT and now the waiting time for an initial referral is at least 4 months. I see a consultant at the rheumatology in Bath but the waiting times for appointments are long and physio appointments are hard to get.
