night sweats and mood swings

I am 7 week post op from TAH and ovaries removed and am having terrible mood swings. Before my op I was on antidepressents and the hospital stopped them. I have not been offered HRT I also wake up some nights sweating. I am 52 and was post menapausal before the op.

Is this normal?

Dee it certainly seems that you are suffering menopausal symptoms, I've no idea if this is normal but I hope it passes soon xx

It definitely sounds like menopausal symptoms but if you were already post menopausal before your operation and that way for over a year then it may very well be severe withdrawal symptoms from the anti depressant being stopped suddenly by hospital. Stopping anti depressants suddenly can have severe symptoms - mood swings, sweats, anxiety, insomnia, foggy thinking even suicidal tendencies etc. If I were you I'd Check the withdrawal symptoms of the anti depressant you were on and see if they match what you are going through. If so, contact the hospital as these meds should NOT be stopped abruptly - you should be weaned off them slowly. Post surgical menopausal symptoms can last for a while also so it may be a combination of both. Even get your bloods checked to see if there is a hormonal imbalance or if your CRP is higher than normal as this can also cause night sweats if not within normal range. I'm not a doctor but could be anti depressant withdrawal symptoms....

I'm 8 weeks on since my op , I'm also having

Night sweats & they disturb my sleep , having

Everything taken away throws you straight into

The menopause so all these symptoms

Are normal , you can ask to be put on

HRT but I would like to carry on giving

Blood so I'm hoping I can manage without

You can also help by watching what you eat a drink , cut out caffeine & limit fatty foods

Or processed foods, hope they sort it out for you .x
