Night time stomach pain!

Posted , 3 users are following.

Over many years now I have suffered with stomach problems that my GP has always said was IBS and this has come and gone sometimes for months, lots of stomach pain.

Lately however I seem to be going to bed at night feeling fine, then being woken in the night with stomach pains which last through to say 10am and then gradually fade away and everything is fine through the evening, off to bed and the cycle continues.

Any suggestions as to what this is and what may help with the pain.

Thanks for reading.

hi roy, when you say stomach where EXACTLY is the pain? do you mean you bowel or stomach? if it's stomach pain i would see someone soon, it needs anything sinister ruling out, ibs can cause pain ANYWHERE but not persistently! not every night. have you tried taking anti acids at night to see if this will help? a build up of acid will feel horrible. you need to push to find out what this is. it could be serious, it may not. see the manager at your doctor's if necessary.

      Thanks for your reply.

Pain is in the stomach area, the pain is not persistent, it comes and goes, I wake up with it most mornings and is usually a lot better in the afternoons and gone in the evening.

hi, it does sound like IBS only because I went to see my GP one time about same problem and he asked me a few questions (he was very thorough)

He told me if ever you get woke during the night with any kind of stomach cramp, it is more than likely food related. He advised to make a food diary of what I was eating to try to find the trigger.

he also said that it could even be something I ate 24 hours previously . Im not sure if this helps?
