Nightmares

Hello

I'd been prescribed this drug (30mg every 6-8 hours) for a broken big toe (dropped a railway sleeper on it) a few days ago and have experienced some disturbing nightmares, enough to make me not want to go to sleep.

I also take 2x 400g Ibubrufen daily for arthritis and 5-10mg of seroxat for IBS. The additional paracetomol & codeine I was taking was not touching the pain of the fracture so the consultant at my local fracture clinic wrote a prescription for 50 of these tablets. They came from the pharmacist with no leaflet at all just a warning on the label not to drive or operate machinery & to avoid alcohol. Being an-ex smoker of tobacco and weed (& occasional xmas snort of charlie) I was enjoying the mellow state, not to mention reducing the toe pain from excruitiating stabbing pain to dull throb. After the nightmares I thought a google search was in order ...... I can only thank users of this site for posting your experiences. Now I know why I'm constipated, these tablets are acting in a similar way to the seroxat on my underlying IBS, I don't think the consultant read all the medical history taken by the casualty nurses. Knowing all about addiction and since I have an acute injury which should heal over the next few weeks, I think I'll stop right here and return them to the pharmacy. I feel fortunate that my arthritis is under control with Ibubrufen & a good dose of glucosamine, chondritin & EPO. Thanks once again for the warning.

Seroxat [i:01decf56e3]is an awful SSRI (anti-depressant) drug [/i:01decf56e3]

It made my ex-girlfriend very depressed with shocking nightmares and she attempted suicide as a result

Dihydrocodeine will fix your IBS condition.

SSRI (anti-depressant) drugs actually can cause stomach conditions and upsets too !!

    Is your Dr. Insane

I know about the nightmares from DHC. I got a thing called 'old hag syndrome' but it goes after a while

I have to agree Dihydrocodeine is giving me very vivid dreams, I wouldnt go as far as to say they are nightmares but I can see how you could have them very easily.

I also find they make my mouth quite dry and I need to drink more when I take them. I am taking 1 x30mg tablet 4 times a day for arthritis pain, I also take co-dydramol (which also contains 10 mg of Dihydrocodeine) 2 4 times a day and Diclofenic which is an anti-inflamatory. I take something stronger at night which keeps me pain free for about 8 - 10 hours but can only be taken at night.

I wasnt coping at all well with the pain before they added the 30mg in but it seems to have eased things a bit now.
