No change after cts release

I had my left hand(non dominant) hand done in January 2015 and within days I was able to notice a difference and had complete relief of symptoms. I still have some pain around my Palm and thumb strength is not up to par. I had my righ hand done March 25th and have yet to notice any kind of change , in fact it almost feels like it's worse than before. My pre-op apt is not until April 7th. When I have my elbow bent my whole arm and hand go numb but my nerve test only shown to have severe bilateral carpal tunnel in both wrists. I know carpal tunnel release can take some time to notice an improvement but with my 1st surgery I felt so much better after wards.

1 week is a bit early to make a judgement on that. If you have the actual nerve conduction results we could look to see if one side was actually worse than the other - if you are right handed then the right hand could well have been a more severe CTS.

While I understand that 1 week is too soon to make a judgement, I was just saying that with the left hand I noticed an improvement rather quickly after having the surgery. It could be related to the swelling still.

I am right handed and do have a copy of my nerve conduction test but unsure of how to read it.

Im going thru kind of the same thing.  After I had CTR done on my NON dominant 2 years ago the results were immediate and stunning. No more pain, no burning...nothing. I even had the incision split open and get infected. I spent about 3 weeks on antibiotics and poof..it was over.

2 months ago I had it done on my dominant...extremely dominant left hand and have been miserable since. It sucks.  There is so much pain near the wrist at the heel of the hand.  Its like a rock has been placed under the skin there.  UGH

I wish you so much success and faster and better healing.  I wish I had something to say that would help you.  Just hang tough and if it helps at all...........know that you arent alone.
