No doctor, hospital, physio or pain killers please

Pardon my writing. I’m not native English speaker.

I’m female, 50, live in UK, having the second FS at the moment.

The first FS was on my right 3 years ago. I didn’t know what it was, so I went to GP(not much help), X-rayed in Hospital(painful), took a lot pain killers(didn’t work, destroyed my stomach) and did physio 6 times(delayed so much,  so no pain but didn’t make any different).

So this time when my left shoulder started uncomfortable in February I knew what it was and determined to heal by myself, no doctor, no hospital, no pain killers nor physio, with only 2 long wheat bags which I sandwich my shoulder and arm to get instant comfort.

But in mid-March, my shoulder was flare up, inflammation started. One little wrong move, I collapsed with cry and had to wait to pass the pain as you all know. Unfortunately my husband is away a lot because of his job, so I have to do everything, school run by car, housework, gardening and I work at home too. No time for FS. Especially frightening was driving. It’s dangerous to everyone.

I was desperate, so found here. One of post said someone did HRT. I knew FS was related with menopause, so I thought I can’t do anything about it, but someone did something about it.

I will never take HRT. It’s too much side effects. I don’t like chemicals including pain killers. But there are a lot menopause supplements for Hot flushes. I even sceptical about any supplements, but any little help would do, I was desperate.  So next morning after school run, I popped in a supermarket and bought one and took it.

That evening, my inflammation was gone. I could even feel it ceasing. That night I got a decent period which I hadn’t had for more than half year except a couple light ones. Since then inflammation hasn’t come back as I keep taking the supplements.

My shoulder was already damaged and frozen, so still painful and movement was limited, but no inflammation means no more collapse with cry. I can get on with my life and only way my shoulder goes will be recovery. Keep coming back inflammations make FS such difficult and long term condition.

That was one and half month ago. My shoulder and arm is still sore, uncomfortable during daytime and bit pains at night, but much better. I reckon I will enjoy summer without pain and most movement. Once pain’s gone, movement comes back that I know from the previous experience. No need painful physio.

I owe this forum. I wanted to write my experience after my FS is completely better which I think not too long, but here everyone seems taking torturous treatments, so I wanted to say there are less painful ways. I never took pain killers this time. I only do gentle stretch excises.  I hate pain. Surely pain is bad for us. I never let anyone touch my FS including so called specialists who never experienced the FS pain.

As any treatments, it might not work for you. My FS was very early stage and could be not as serious as yours. And longer you have FS, your shoulders are more damaged and frozen, so take longer to heal.

But my method is easy, cheap and no harm unless you are allergic to ingredients. There are more strong supplements in chemists and net. And there are men’s menopause supplements available by internet. Look around Amazon for the product to suit you. You can take the supplements with other treatments too.

My understanding now is that FS is same as hot flushes, just where becomes hot leads different results. Hormone level changes like our age causes heat/inflammations until body get used to the new hormone balance, so if you add and regulate hormones a little bit, it’ll be better, although FS’s damage is more serious and take longer to heal.

It’s not a miracle or instant cure, but I can bear the pain without inflammation for a couple months, especially I feel it’s getting better. Only side effects I got were that regular periods came back and so my hair. My hair was thinning as I get older.

I will keep taking the supplements until my menopause is well over to prevent further FS.

Thanks for reading. If I can help even one person, I’m happy with. Wish you all pain free summer. I love British summer. It’s not too hot and beautiful!

    Just quick update for 2 month and half;

My shoulder and arm are still bit sore but sort of itchy as well now. Because I can’t scratch inside, I have to assault my shoulder and arm to stop the itch. I’m pulling things in all angles and do girly push ups (my kids taught me smile.

If ever go to PT, now the time! I’m seriously thinking to hang from monkey bars…

The result is getting back the movements; I can tie my hair and no step for washing lines. I can’t do bra yet though, it’s just matter of time.

    Hope your treatments working too!

Oh, you are so quick, Louise!

I was still looking at which Hyaluronic Acid tablets are good on the net.

And yes, I found some people used it for FS and said worked!

My joints are not flexible from young age. I had back problems from 20s. So I'm very interested in the supplements if it works.

Is it from h*b? If so, 20 mg is bit low dosage, isn't it?

Please let me know if it works!

BTW I tried monkey bars today. lol

Agh, it's still too painful to hang, but just streching on low bars with my feet on ground, it's OK.

Hope the supplements work for you!

I finished 3rd box of the menopause supplements.

Basically I haven’t got FS pain for a while now. I can do anything normally. Sleep well, wake up by alarm clock happily. lol

Just my arm is still stack to shoulder. My rage of movement is 80%ish. So it’s still uncomfortable to try outside of the range.  But it will sort itself out that I know from my last time experience.

I’m pretty happy getting rid of the pain less than 3 months and before summer holiday. So I will finish my updates and stop hogging the forum.

Hope everyone’s pain will go soon too! Take care smile
