No points on pip f2f interview

Posted , 9 users are following.

Hi first time posting. I went for my face to face with a pip consultant 9 days ago after them phoning me the day before to attend 11am the following day. My report has come back today with 0 points. I have been on pip for 2 years due to depression and anxiety. The report is an absolute joke! To the point that I had to reread it several times as it does not portray my f2f interview at all. Where do I stand? Do I appeal? Also will this affect my esa?thank you

    Hi,

Sorry to hear your assessment report came back 0 points. I noticed you said they phoned you the day before to attend an assessment following day. I know it's late now but just for the future; you didn't have to agree with that assessment arrangement. Legally , they should have given you a 7 days notice. They can't make you go to the assessment in short notice like this. I know this rule for sure from benefits and works website. (It's unfortunately happening to lot of people but like yourself ; many people are not aware of this and I wasn't either).

Others gave excellent information. You can only decide what you would like to do. Mandatory reconsiderations have low success rate. This shouldnt put you off appealing. Appeal success at courts rates are much higher.

Best of luck to you .

I would agree with this, but just one word of caution.  I know that in principle the assessment provider should give seven days notice, but I have heard it successfully argued that with the amount of assessments they are dealing with, sometimes this does not fit in with their operating plans.  If a claimant refuses to attend an assessment for ANY reason, it is noted in the documents which are returned to the DWP after the assessment. I would strongly advise any claimant not to refuse to attend an assessment unless it's absolutely necessary, and certainly not on a point of principle like too short notice.  There is no guarantee that you will get any more notice the second time you are called and if you refuse a second time your file will be returned to the DWP with details of your refusals, and your claim is then at risk.

Margaret, sadly the assessors who do the interviews appear to be very nice but they are just trying to get a bonus for refusing PIP.  I had an assessment after being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 7 years ago and mor erecently HNPP but I still got NIL points in my assessment and again when I submitted a reconsideration. I have had a letter to go to court on January 23 for my appeal but I am so worried that they will again ignore my pain and weakness and make out I am making it up. If only they could live a day in my shoes sad

I hope you are sucessful in your appeal, get as much medical evidence and support that you can !

Hi Margaret, that isn't always the case. I agree there are a lot of them out there who "appear nice" But there are some genuine ones who really are nice. I've had 2 PIP assessments in 2 years and i was lucky both times to have an AP who was both nice and understanding. I too suffer from Fibromyalgia and many other conditions and i currently claim standard Daily Living and Enhanced mobility. PIP is more about how your condition/s affect you daily rather than a diagnosis. Don't be disheartened and think possitive because 60% of tribunals are successful.

I am in the same boat scored nil on PIP assessment three  months ago and I am appalled at what I have uncovered since then about this whole proccess and the vast amount of money it is costing the tax payer .I have been researching and asking the DWP questions under the freedom of information act .What I have found is confusion overstending complete lack of consideration of claiments .To achieve what the goverment set out to do .I would have stayed with the old system taking medical advice from the claiments own doctors specialists and hospital consultants but employed more fraud officers in the DWP to target the people abusing the system .Three months on my medical condition has deterioted I am 64 .At age 60 my health condition was such to entitle me to DLA .I am awating a decision from DWP after asking for a mandertory reconsideration .which I have no doubt will be refused and will have to go to a tribunal .Meanwhile my income has more than halved and caused me to be in debt I am to ill to work  .I can understand that some people have committed suicide as you are made to feel less than nothing but would advice anybody to keep asking questions of the DWP and the goverment .There is a site called what do they know which is very useful

Since posting this my doctor has provided a supporting letter and I have had a meeting with my local cab. I will be appealing the decision. The dwp need to look at how these decisions are affecting people.

Have found through my research something that bothers me and it is the number of people making money from this .for a fee they will help you with your claim from the beginning up to appeal  and if you win they take a percentage of the backdated benefit {Talk about jumping on the band wagon } this surely is an indication that something is terrably wrong .I have been asking the DWP questions via the freedom of information .there is a site you can join to make this easy to do .so I have been asking on average two questions a week .EG asked this week Could the DWP tell me {since the introduction of PIP assessments in 2013 how many posthumous appeals have there been and the results of same } Have also asked the dwp how many claims have been allowed at mandatory reconsideration stage when pip assessment scored nil points since 2013 also number of appeals in favour of claimant who scored nil points at assessment .Waiting for reply .IF you are interestedthe site is What do they know .I am 65 and unfortunatly ill with no savings as I have bought up two children on my own supported them throught uni paid my morgage so they would always have a roof over there head .Just some background .I  claimed DLA at age 60 middle rate living lower rate mobility Had a pip assessment scored nil had benefit stopped had  to cancel all my insurance house and life as I can no longer afford this and would have been overdrawn at the bank .This is the bottom line most people having benefit stopped become impoverished .Most disturbing is the deceit eg when the assessor asks you how you got to the centre and do you need to use the lift { they deliberatly do not have the assessments on the ground floor } a seemingly innocuous questions  but they can use your answer in thier  assessment without you being aware of this .I have asked the DWP if they are duplicitous in this ,waiting for reply .Margaret can you remember if your assesser asked you what you would be doing for the rest ofthe day mine did and I told her I wasn so tired and drained that I would be going to bed when I got home .She didnt include this but said that I could plan a rout because I turned up for the assessment I am waiting for my appeal date which could be months away in the meantime my general health has declined because of the stress Which I think from most posts online has affected most people in the same way .I have come to the belief that this system is easy for the fraudant claimants as they know how to work the system when they know no medical evidence from the GP or consultants will be asked for simply because of the cost .Before 2013 the goverment were hoping to save 0.4 billion over three years by stopping benefits to date it has cost in administration cost of assessments cost of appeals  increase in DWP people around 2 billion to the end of 2016 .DWP have themselves predicted that the cost of assessments will quadruple between 2016/2018 .Non of this will help my appeal but I wanted to vent .You have to pick to pieses the assessment try to remember everything you said that does not appear and you need to call into question what the assesser has written .Good luck

As a side issue I have read the details of the submission under FOI and it seems unbelievable that the questions which we should all have answers to have been dismissed.

May I say that this is sterling work in highlighting the problems which claimants face with PIP and you should be congratulated for making the effort.
