No points on pip f2f interview

Hi first time posting. I went for my face to face with a pip consultant 9 days ago after them phoning me the day before to attend 11am the following day. My report has come back today with 0 points. I have been on pip for 2 years due to depression and anxiety. The report is an absolute joke! To the point that I had to reread it several times as it does not portray my f2f interview at all. Where do I stand? Do I appeal? Also will this affect my esa?thank you

Hi,
Sorry to hear your assessment report came back 0 points. I noticed you said they phoned you the day before to attend an assessment following day. I know it's late now but just for the future; you didn't have to agree with that assessment arrangement. Legally , they should have given you a 7 days notice. They can't make you go to the assessment in short notice like this. I know this rule for sure from benefits and works website. (It's unfortunately happening to lot of people but like yourself ; many people are not aware of this and I wasn't either).
Others gave excellent information. You can only decide what you would like to do. Mandatory reconsiderations have low success rate. This shouldnt put you off appealing. Appeal success at courts rates are much higher.
Best of luck to you .

I would agree with this, but just one word of caution. I know that in principle the assessment provider should give seven days notice, but I have heard it successfully argued that with the amount of assessments they are dealing with, sometimes this does not fit in with their operating plans. If a claimant refuses to attend an assessment for ANY reason, it is noted in the documents which are returned to the DWP after the assessment. I would strongly advise any claimant not to refuse to attend an assessment unless it's absolutely necessary, and certainly not on a point of principle like too short notice. There is no guarantee that you will get any more notice the second time you are called and if you refuse a second time your file will be returned to the DWP with details of your refusals, and your claim is then at risk.

Margaret, sadly the assessors who do the interviews appear to be very nice but they are just trying to get a bonus for refusing PIP. I had an assessment after being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 7 years ago and mor erecently HNPP but I still got NIL points in my assessment and again when I submitted a reconsideration. I have had a letter to go to court on January 23 for my appeal but I am so worried that they will again ignore my pain and weakness and make out I am making it up. If only they could live a day in my shoes
I hope you are sucessful in your appeal, get as much medical evidence and support that you can !

Hi Margaret, that isn't always the case. I agree there are a lot of them out there who "appear nice" But there are some genuine ones who really are nice. I've had 2 PIP assessments in 2 years and i was lucky both times to have an AP who was both nice and understanding. I too suffer from Fibromyalgia and many other conditions and i currently claim standard Daily Living and Enhanced mobility. PIP is more about how your condition/s affect you daily rather than a diagnosis. Don't be disheartened and think possitive because 60% of tribunals are successful.

May I say that this is sterling work in highlighting the problems which claimants face with PIP and you should be congratulated for making the effort.
