No sensation to urinate

After an improvement in retention, i have noticed a setback. I am currently on .4 flowmax twice a day. this morning i peed like a racehorse. since afternoon, very little, despite a liter of intake.

when i press on my bladder i feel little sensation of urine. of note, i have had some diarrhea today, so i wonder if fluid loss is mostly to the GI tract.

naturally im worried about retention and prepared to have a go at self cath later this evening ( Im in the USA). This will be my first time, so I am apprehensive, but would rather cic then wear a foley.

Any tips or suggestions on what im experiencing are welcome. my background is i have a medial lobe enlargement diagnosed by cysto. Urologist has mentioned surgery to relieve the ball valve effect , but seems to prefer that I CIC as needed

CIC are simple and take only a few minutes. There is no comparison to the annoyance and discomfort of a foley. It is a safe, effective way to empty your bladder. I have been using CIC twice a day for over a year. I am 74 years old and have a long history of prostate enlargement and a total of 5 surgeries. And, before I forget, I have not had single infection in the last year which used to be a chronic problem.
