But ive no idea why i cant sleep at night.Ive tried all the usual things to help but nothing works. I once had sleeping tablets but they made me feel tired all day.

hi Alison, oh dear that sounds really rubbish! you need to discover why you're ready not sleeping at all, there''ll be a reason for it. rest during the day - try to tire yourself out a bit before you go to bed don't think what time it is or how long it takes you to sleep just try to relax in whatever way you see fit. examine your diet, what your doing, your sleep routine the lot. i find sleep tough, but know the reasons why? have you tried something like lavender, camomile or a soothing bath with essential oils, or have you tried all of this? the more you worry the worse it will get! i wish you luck.

I have terrible anxiety and trouble sleeping for days until everything looks cloudy, though I've found a dose of Zquil an hour before bed, then 1-2 Melatonin gummies (in a purple bottle I believe also zquil brand) knocks me out with little groggy feeling like say benadryl which knocks me out for 24 hours.

That and I've accepted I am not going to sleep at all before work or ever again for all intensive purposes, this acceptance of living my life in a sleepy haze has made it kind of easier to sleep.

I am 1000% there with you, regular melatonin pills didn't touch me, but two little melatonin gummies puts me down and keeps me asleep for at least 4-5 hours thank god.

    Hi Alison

Its crazy right? No sleep...I am in same shoes. I started taking strong magnesium and the restless legs calmed down so much. Maybe you can try it, could ask your gp about it. Try Kalms Night..Nytol..I sometimes listen to binaural beats, I know, I am giving it a go lol. Just never know. Take good care of yourself.

I'm so sorry you're having this problem. have you tried downloading a free meditation App? There are a number available specifically for sleep. They certainly helped me. Worth a try. Good luck!

thank you everyone for your support and ideas. i worry about taking different medicines because of the medication im on. ive had two bouts of blood clots on my lungs and im now on warfrin. i also have rhumatoid arthritis and take weekly methatrexate and biological injections. i dont really want to bother my gp with trivial matters at this time. i will give the other things a try however a bath is out as if i get in i cant get out and i live alone i doubt the dog would be much help lol.

All my illnesses and trouble sleeping only started after my mum passed away but that was five year ago now.

but thank you all for your suggestions
