Noisy nose causing me trouble sleeping.

Hi,

Can someone tell me what could be causing this, please? – My nose sounds like a wind tunnel when I’m trying to sleep at night. It doesn’t whistle, just a loud rush of air sound when I breathe in and out. Sometimes it’s just my left nostril, sometimes the right but rarely both at the same time. My sinuses are clear, I can breathe ok and have no pain but the sound is loud enough that it really interferes with my sleep.

I don’t notice it so much during the day because there’s other sounds to mask it, but at night when it’s all quiet, it drives me mad.

I actually find that I can sleep better when my nose is slightly stuffy because it stops the noise.

I know a perforated septum can cause a whistle sound but could that be what’s causing my problem too?
