Non genital herpes - on my hand/arm

Hi - I contracted the herpes virus from a ex ex boyfriend, however, I did not know I had it until my current ex partner contracted it. However, I do not get genital herpes, but I get occasional outbreaks of blisters around my wrist area or on the palm of my hand. My ex now has genital herpes and I know I passed it on, as I had the blisters on my hand before I met him, but I had no idea what it was. I was with my current partner for 14 years and although the symptoms got less over the years, he said he couldn't forgive me for infecting him and he does not believe I didn't know, which I didn't.

So my question is now I know I am a carrier of the virus, I have just recently started to date someone else and I will definitely tell them before I sleep with them. I am terrified of their reaction. How did I pass on this virus to my ex through my blisters? Would getting my new partner to use a condom protect him from getting the virus from me? I can go for almost a year without getting any symptoms. Can someone catch it if you don't have symptoms or is it just when you get symptoms?? Is it common to get them on your arm or hand instead of your genitals?? I have not come across any other people who have the blisters here.

Any answers to my questions would be greatly appreciated. I am almost in tears wondering how on earth I am going to explain this to someone without freaking them out.... thank u

I get the blisters every once in a while on my hands and arms, makes me crazy, I found that mixing the strongest solution of peppermint essential oil with coconut oil, to dilute it so it's not too irritating, really does make a difference, you have to rub it on in the very first little itch user the skin before the bumps come or when the bumps are still so tiny, for it to work, it kills it before it gets full blow and is complete gone in about 3 days. Best to lather it on at bedtime and sleep, then just normal application daily to prevent outbreaks. No kidding! Hope this helps someone, does not work for simplex 2.

I’ve heard that doing the same thing with tea tree oil works too.  Epsom salt salt baths help a lot as well.

    Hi,

i have been experiencing the same issue on my wrist. The blisters first flared up during the summer and since then it’s come up another 3 times. (Exact same place every time) They went away for a long period of time but unfortunately have flared up again this week out of nowhere. I’ve been to the doctors and they had no idea, luckily there was a skin specialist in and confirmed it’s herpes simplex. This is not a sexually transmitted disease and does unfortunately stay in the system. I was also informed there’s no way of finding out how I’ve caught this as it can be so easily done.. and can trigger due to being unwell or stress. I have been given tablets called ‘Aciclovir’. These are to be taken to help the blisters not be as swollen, painful and itchy, nothing makes the herpes actually leaves the system. (As I’ve been told) if anyone has taken this further and found more specialist treatment, I would love to know!

Hope this info helps anyone reading.

I know this post is pretty old , however I haven't been to the docs yet about my blister that have been on my for arm. I Frist had notice it this year in July, thinking it was a spider bite of some sort. Than it  started back up in the same area just recently. it wasn't until some one mention it to me that  it can be a case of herpes because it showed up in the same  spot. I was shock when I heard it because I know I haven't been expose to anyone with herpes. I also get this warmest of some sort when I did touch it, it does hurt very badly and it does turn read around the area were the blisters are, however

my question to you is, you stated its not sexually transmitted, so would you be able to give it to someone when having sex? In when a person has an out break can others catch it if its not covered?

      Hi,

I cannot give you facts as I am not a doctor and can only tell you what I've been told by my doctor.

You could have been exposed to someone with Herpes and not known it, as they could have not known either. Herpes can live in the system for years without showing any symptoms.

Although, specifically whether it's 'sexually transmitted' or just plain transmitted, it can be passed on regardless, ie through contact. Maybe it's worth clearing up the specifics with your GP.

I hope this helps, as I have now found I have not had a full outbreak for quite some time now. It still itches from time to time, but I do believe the outbreaks lesson in pain and size as time goes by.

    Hello

pain started in my left arm , went to hospital they gave me some vaccine then little boil/eruption started showing

they (docs) thought its bacteria try to treat it but then referred to other hospital (better) there the doc just looked at it and declared it herpes. I thought he was high (thinking herpes is caused by sexual activity in my mind and arm and palms blister are not the place for herpes)

Now reading this i am depressed (bcoz of disease)  coz i do not have sex of any kind for like 15 years and counting.

hi there. OK so, last year around July (2017) , I had some problems in my marriage and there was some infidelity. This is detailed. But my wife got oral from a woman now known to have herpes or hpv( not sure ) . She was tested a few months later and all tests were negative. But now she has some bumps below her vagina. And I have some bumps in the web area between my fingers ( the fingers obviously used know my wife). Now IDK if we are freaking out for nothing, but it doesn't hurt, doesn't look like any herpes sores I've looked up, doesn't really itch at All other than like if my skin is dry and my whole hand itches. ..am I being paranoid?
