Non-itchy painful rash, burning tongue and painful gums, contacted from brother

I have been having small painful rashes throughout my body. The rashes do not have any drainage and do not itch. Meanwhile I am also having painful gums and burning tongue. My brother has been having the exact symptoms for about 3 weeks now, and I developed the symptoms while I visited him this weekend.

The doctors did a bacterial culture taking sample from my brother's rash but did not find any bacterial growth. They still prescribed both antibiotic cream and oral antibiotic but it did not help. I have been prescribed antibiotic cream but I do not think it will help as I am almost certain the problem is not limited to skin but is present inside mouth as well, as both of us are having same oral symptoms.

Can this be some kind of a viral infection or something else. Did anyone else face similar symptoms and what treatment was taken if that was the case.

Think this might be Lichen Planus. Its not catching but you can have a family tendency towards it. Mention it to your doctor. The usual treatment is steroids but you need a definite diagnosis first.
