Non weight bearing

Hi I feel like I'm using this site an awful lot lately as I'm stuck in hospital post thr 7 days ago. Has anyone else experience of non-weight bearing. It's such hard work, I feel that if I could just pop my foot down I'd be fine but hopping on crutches whilst lifting my op leg up is really painful! I'm trying to not put pressure on my good leg as its hurts my hip and knee (that legs strong and healthy) and use my upper body to take the strain. I won't be hopping far but, for example, it's difficult balancing on one leg to pull down underwear when going to the loo! Would love any advice!!

Don't wear any!!! I didn't for a couple of weeks...It's tough on the incision! I cannot help about weight bearing but I feel for you.....I was exhausted and lifeless for the first complete week. Take care...hugs from Canada!

Thankyou, I've only just started to wear underwear as I'm still in hospital but have had to be careful not to flash when someone is helping lift my leg back onto the bed! The problem is 12 weeks is s long time to be knickerless, especially as it's so cold in England now 😁

I had a similar problem when on day 1 they decided to 'pop' me into a wheelchair to get me to X-Ray ......... quick thinking with my blanket saved a red face.

Underwear etc - I used my sticks reversed, using the L shaped handles to assist with lowering and raising underwear etc (and still do at 7 weeks to stop me bending in a tight bathroom).

      Best wishes

Yes Renee I always have someone walk me into the bathroom and the physios have shown me how to be safe but i have to be able to balance on my good leg quite a lot! Luckily that leg is strong but it's hard work! Dresses and no underwear would be easier but I don't plan on staying at home for the next 3 months and don't have any dresses that look nice with white TED stockings and pink and grey Nike trainers!! (The Physio recommended I wear trainers!)

For your vivid imagination I had a shower for the first time today and was sat on a chair. The nozzle was behind me and I reached over my shoulder to try and turn it off. All I did was increase the pressure and turn it to cold! I tried everything but in the end pulled the cord for assistance. I had to be rescued and covered in towels to warm up 😃😂😃😃😃

I was assured by the nurses that TEDs are the latest 'must have' accessory ......... hmmmmmmm

Showering - yes, you need to work out exactly what the controls do before starting, especially if they are going to be behind you.

sorry darling -- I also love the image of TED stockings and trainers ...

I honestly would not know what to do ....

There must be someone here on the forum that had something similar

      regarding non-weightbearing ....

not sure if this one gets by moderator's eyes, but long time ago (really a long time ago) I remember having crotchless panties redface
