    Hello

    Sorry you feel so poorly.

Your thyroid may be normal, but your parathyroid glands may not.  I would advise you to get your calcium and parathyroid hormone (PTH) tested - it is possible you have a disease callled Primary Hyperparathyroidism.  I would recommend you look this up (a good place is the web site of the famous parathyroid centre in Tampa, Florida and see if any of it fits your symptoms.  There are 21 symptoms to this disease and it sounds like you have at least some of them.  It would be a good place to start if nothing else, it's something that often is misdiagnosed.

Hope you feel better soon.  Are you in the US?

    Kind regards.

Sorry you are feeling so bad.  Like Rosemary said, sounds like primary hyperparathryoidism, particularly if you say your vitamin D is low.  If it is that, the pain is caused because of an adenoma on one of the parathyroid glands which then creates more of the parathyroid hormone and then that leeches calcium from the bones into the bloodstream.

?We have a group on Facebook run by a sufferer of 7 years and being ignored by GP's.  Ironically, we recently had a lady join us who lives in the U.K. but was on holiday in Florida and actually had an adenoma half the size of a banana removed.  Dr Norman did the op and said left any longer and it would have killed her.  She was so elated half the op, she phoned home and told her family to buy a lottery ticket and low and behold they won the £61 million.   There are around seven hundred of us all having a moan and getting advice on the group and members are from the u.s., australia, scandanavia and of course the u.k.   Just write a message to the group and say Elaine sent you.  It takes a few days to sift through stuff because we had a nutjob trying to sabotage the group which is private and we wanted to keep it that way.  Its " Hyperparathyroid UK Action4Change "

      Regards

Yes, if you have a high calcium level your Vit D is very likely to be low because with Primary Hyperparathyroidism, the body deliberately keeps the vit D low as a protective measure.  Just because you don't drink milk, your calcium should still be in the normal tight range.  Other foods such as cheese and broccoli contain calcium.  If the level of calcium in your blood is higher than it should be, the body will aim to keep the Vit D low as a protective measure.  Do you feel worse when you take high doses of Vit D?  If you do have high calcium, you should not take Vit D (or extra calcium) because this will increase your risk of a stroke and heart attack and will make you feel worse.  It's always a good idea just to get your calcium checked because if it's too high it can mimic the symtoms of other diseases.

Depression-type symptoms is also a very common symptom of Primary Hyperparathyroidism.

      Hope this helps.

I can't thank you enough I see my Dr one week from tomorrow I do feel worse after my vitD pill I can't believe this can occur I'm so very grateful I'd almost given up it seems Dr's aren't up on there skill when it comes to this health issue irs been blamed on my hysterectomy, getting older ,genetics simply because labs came back normal I hope this is what's troubling me I'm not sounding like a weirdo but to actually be diagnosed is better than not knowing what's next so once again I'm forever grateful if it's not this I'm sure it's a step in the right direction I desperately want a quality of life and for the moment it's nit the pain is debilitating for the most part could you please tell me again what test I need to have?

Hi Tracy really sorry you are feeling that bad. I've told Sallie to look out for you joining. By the way we are lucky enough to have one of the lady surgeons from the parathyroid centre in Florida on our group. She very kindly did a gruelling whole evening of questions and answers for members. Can you imagine one of our surgeons giving up their time. Take care
